Just recently, my injector went out on the J.And yes, i know for a fact its an injector, ECU code readfor it, so while the car was running, i took all power off to theinjector that i thought was the one not working, andi was correct. It's injector #2, and when i unplugged power fromit, the idle never changed. So i thought maybe the injectorwas clogged or has had it's life.

I took a look at all the wiring on top of the engine that goes tothe injectors, moved them around, and cleaned the terminals, but it was still running rough, so i think its the wiring by the fire wallgoing into the ECU.

But this morning, it was working fine. It was humid and dew was on the grass and cars,so I'm guessing the wire to that injector has corroded orsomething, and the water is completing the circuit.

Anyone have any ideas that would help me when i further look at it?Thanks

This sounds similar to my recent injector failure. When it started to go, it was flakey for a while; sometimes everything was fine and other times the idle was very rough.

I don't think most injectors fail due to clogging. They fail due to deterioration of their coils. Check the resistance across the terminals of the injector when the engine is running normally and when it is idling roughly. I'm guessing it will be high, potentially all the way to infinite if the coil is open/completely failed. I think the spec is 10 - 14 ohms and I know it's listed in other threads.

And plug a Noid lamp into the harness connection to the suspect injector to test whether or not there is proper signal/power to it.

Quite a coincidence.Just earlier i did both the meter and the noid lamp tests. And yes, the coil is pretty much fried. It pretty much pisses me off because not only areinjectors expensive, but in the VG30DE, you have to takethe whole intake manifold off to change them.

get your injectors at everythinginfiniti.com. Let them know your a NICO member. Their prices are cheaper than your local Nissan/Infiniti dealer.

BruceJ30 ,, you don't need to pull the plenum.

I might add that some of the injectors don't even need the grinding method. The one I replaced didn't.

Don't mean to hijack the post but, I'm having the same problem w/the no.5 cylinder. Plugged a noid lamp into the harness connectionand......nothing.

So what can it be? Power Transistor unit or the ECM?

Any advice would be appreciated.

What a coincidence, I had my number 2 injector go out over the weekend. Right now I'm slowly grinding away at the plenum to change it out sometime this week.

Well, never did fix the problem, it fixed itself. All of a sudden it just started working again.Haven't had a problem since.

Ohm the injector out ,If it ohms out OK your probably had a clog that worked loose.A dose of Redline SL1 will clean out the crude that the dang ethanol blend is causing us J drivers.

Somehow I don't think a clogged injector would trigger a CEL/Code. That's got to be a purely electrical thing and a failing injector coil will work intermittently for a while. An ohm check should yield a high reading.

The first thing we did was the ohm test.It read the same as the others that worked. But i did also put in the redline, but this was a longtime ago. It's been fine ever since. I think it was justa coincidence, but after i drove in reverse for about 300ftgoing a good 25 - 30 MPH, was when it started working.
