hey guys, i need a little input from you guys to finish my install of my JL Audio 1000/1 and my two w6v2's.

pretty much i ran my 4 awg wire from the battery to the trunk. where im stuck is knowing which wires i need to splice right before the bose amp. i dont know which are which. im going to need to splice a set of rca's for the amp as well as a remote wire. i searched many forums but all i find are DIY's for the coupe's and none for the 2007+ G35 Sedans.. HELP!!!

With Bose? With or without navigation?

Assuming Bose (which I am thinking must be the case) and Navigation:

2007 Sedan

Bose Amp with Navigation Rear Woofer Sound Signal:

(+) - terminal 16 (SB)(-) - terminal 17 (V)

Note since this is a plus and minus 1 volt signal you may want to consider an opto-isolator (or similar isolation) to protect both the AV unit and the Bose instead of taking the negative directly to ground. Without knowing the internal signal out from the av nor the internal signal in for the Bose it is possible to cause problems with one or both without isolation. This may also be a good idea to prevent problems between the new amp and either the AV or Bose amp.

p.s. Woofer Amp. On Signal is terminal 22 (GR) and ground. Positive 10 volts

sorry pfarmer; yes we have the same car, 08 with nav and tech. one last question. do you think its best if i ordered a mtx re-q or just wire it directly and just splicing a set of rca's ?

kemister,

The issue is this. The OUTPUT from the Bose amp is fed to the woofer amp on terminals 16 (plus) and 17 (negative). This signal is plus and minus 1 volt. This is basically the same with the other INPUTS left and right front and left and right rear from the AV unit to the Bose amp. There doesn't appear to be any separate bass sound signal from the AV unit to the Bose amp, the left/rights and front/backs are combined in the Bose amp to feed to the woofer amp.

Now there is a good chance that either your sub amp and/or signal processor may have the shielded side of the rca jack (outer ring) at ground potential. By making a connection from an external amp or signal processor you may now have just brought the Bose amp -1 volt level signal (terminal 17) to chassis ground potential. How this affects the Bose amp is unknown without knowing what is occurring inside the box electrically. Keep in mind that this could also electrically affect the AV unit as well again depending on the internal configuration of the Bose amp. Hence my suggestion to go the route of electrically isolating the signals.

Now you do have something present that may actually make this easier and that is the woofer amp may actually present you with the solution if it makes provisions to prevent the issue as well.

Without knowing the impedances involved I hesitate to recommend a solution such as an rca-rca isolation transformer. This may actually be present as the first component in the woofer amp. An opto-isolator on the other hand may not present any loading to speak of and may be the safest way to go.
