HELP BOV types

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

OK which BOV type is better, Recirculation or open atmosphere?

better depends on what type of system you are running..

if you leave the MAF or whatever air sensor (or the like) before the turbo you almost have to run a recirculatory bov because if you don't you will got way rich at every shift.. (it will have a nice fireball and may die)

but if you move the maf after the turbo then you can put the bov in between the maf and the turbo.. that way when you blow off all that extra air the ecu doesn't know about it and won't add more fuel for the air that the motor never gets..



btw, you can still hear a recirculating bov pretty well.. which is probably a determining force for you I'd imagine. It's just not as loud.. but you can hear it

or if you use a management system that disposes with the maf you can use open bov. really there is no sure way of knowing which is best, I know lots of guys that run atmospheric bov's on pre turbo mafs and don't have problems, but I know many that did have problems and recirulated. And I only know of one guy that switched to a blow through maf and he said his car didn't like to run right after he switched the maf to blow through on cold start ups.

I have a MAF car and i vent... I have no issues... others will aruge tho...
