help 300zx a/t malfunction

howdy,
new to this site,on behalf of a friend w/91 300zx.
at dealer it was discoverd that via water leak [p/s t top?] in region of p/s kick panel
a connecter interfacing tps/a/t signal was compromised sending a/t wonkee.
long story short after cleaning-drying connector all was well [$900]
couple months later same condition.[after indiscriminate washing]

due to cost i'm mechanically inclind to remedy this time!!!!
any good reference materials, images, etc. [cleaning, drying, sealing techs]
