HELP 1999 G20t BIG ISSUE

hey guys i own a 1999 infiniti g20t and my cars had this problem for a while and its starting to get annoying ..especially with good weather around the corner...when the car starts to heat up i start smelling something burning coming from the air vents and there is smoke coming out of the engine. if i turn off the heat in the car the smelll goes away but the smoke still comes out of the hood... no check engine light...the smoke appears to be coming from underneath the heat shield for the headers...any ideas? also my fans no longer come on is there a fuse i can check or anything?

It sounds like it might not be a wiring issue. Prop the hood, take off the heat shield, and have someone rev it up while you watch the engine. If you still can't spot where the smoke is coming from, you might have to have a mechanic rip apart the block to find out.

I'd be far more worried about the smoke from your engine than your fan not working and producing a bad smell. That smoke from your engine could indicate a problem that gets worse and worse every day. You have to find out what it is, asap.

hmm....from experience, sounds like a cracked gasket. is the engine overheating?

nope no overheating...the engine takes foreverrrr to warm up to normal temperature

could this have to do with anything like having revved the engine too high or something...because my little brother likes to do **** like that..and he dosent kno the consequences..i told him not to over rev it but he dosent like to listen

There are a ton of things that can go wrong from over-revving. I would kick the crap out of your little brother. If he hasn't broken something yet, he will. He especially can't be doing that with a car that currently has issues.

If it went past redline (or pegged it for awhile) then you could have a problem from that.

Figure out exactly where the smoke is coming from.

hes ridiculous...i do kick the crap out of him...in the beginning of december i changed the driver side cv axle and the same day it was fixed he tried to drift like an idion in the rain ....hit a curb...bent the upper and lower control arms and snapped the axle that was just changed...and i had to take the blame for it

firsst of all you dont drift with front wheel drive cars

First off, your brother is an idiot if he tried to drift with that car and has thus proved by doing so that he is not worthy to drive it. Period. Bind his hands and allow him no keys.

because this joker...being the little idiot that he is...only has his g1 and came home one day and decided to take the car for a drive with his friendsi took the blame because if my parents knew he did it with only his g1 ...they'd firstly blame me ...because im an "encouragement"and i knew that they would probably kill him'lolbut i made sure his little *** paid for everything

Ah. Well, he had better learn some control before he gets his full license. Otherwise he could get himself killed.

I guess as long as he paid for everything, that would make things a little better. I'd still be extremely pissed though.

cracked valve cover gasket maybe and touched your exhaust manifold. But I dont know how the smoke can come to your vent.
