Hey everyone,

New round here, (tried to sign up on another z31 board to no avail, why I was never approved, I'll never know..... do I smell funny or something?)

I've been doing ongoing preventative maintenance, (replaced all bushings with poly U bushings,) as well as larger repairs as of late....... that have hindered my driving in the last 8 months..................

the Auto transmission blew on my '88 300 ZX, and after much debate, the GF's Dad and I decided to go ahead and swap out the auto for a manual transmission.

Already ripped the auto out, have already installed the slave cylinder, swapped out the pedals, flywheel and clutch plate already torqued up.

As I continue finishing up this fun, looks like I'm going to need a new muffler, since the one that was on the car when I bought it is not looking so good.................

So I ask, what would you suggest for a replacement muffler for a newly converted manual trans Z31?

I don't want something TOO loud, but something at least with a bit of hearty hum to it.

I'm in Vancouver BC - if you know alocal place to find it - awesome! If not, I can get stuff shipped up to me.

Thx in advance,

- C

Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Since they make them to order, it will depend on their current workload. I got mine in less than 2 weeks.

ComicsCanucksCars: what was the username you registered? I can look it up and see if I can activate it.

I don't consider 2 weeks fast. mine took a bit longer, it's a good product for the cost but if you don't have the time to wait, you gotta shop elsewhere

Thanks for the replies guys................. I put a call into ztune.ca - spoke to Dylan there, to see what they may have on hand local to me.

2 weeks ain't bad, but I'm hoping to grab it and have it slapped on by Sunday.

I tried to register @

http://z31.com/forum/

as: Frank Millers 300 ZX

and they never approved me!

I applied back on July 19th, 2008..............

We'll see what ztune.ca has kicking around....... I was hoping to find a muffler that will add a bit of spice to the sound of my exhaust, but not something too over-whelming.

For a made to order part from a specialty shop, I don't consider less than 2 weeks bad time at all. I've waited longer for parts to arrive from a dealership because they had to order them and then ship them to me.

These aren't parts that are sitting on a shelf. They actually have to pull out the jigs to make these things. And it's not like they don't have other work going on at the same time that they have to get out before your order can be completed.

mine took more like 3 weeks, and they advertise a packaged products for only a few specific vehicles, you'd think they'd keep at least of of their more popular products ready to ship, then they can ship 1 and make a new one to shelve, minimal inventory and less turn around time, and happier customers

do you think they work form jigs? I kinda figred they had one fo the programable automated mahines, I've seen them in action and they are impressive, I suppose one would still have to add mount tabs but otherwise a very quick efficient process

It's an exhaust shop. They still have their local business to deal with. It isn't all internet sales.

Yes. Perhaps they should have a set or two on a shelf somewhere. But I don't know how big their shop is or how much storage they have. Remember, bent pipes take up far more room than a 10' section of straight pipe. But I'm not one to tell them how to run their business. Maybe they really don't have the room. If you're talking about the Z31 exhausts alone, they'd have to have 8 different downpipes, 4 different "off road" pipes, 8 different front half cat-backs, and god only knows how many rear half cat-back systems. IMO: Too much shelf space.

I don't know if they use jigs or if it's computer driven. If it's anything like the GOOD exhaust shops here, you have to schedule an appointment to get your car done.
