2002 qx4

we where driving down the road and had the a/c on and then the fan shut off. looked at the heater control panel and the fan speed said it was on high but had no air from the vents. tried shutting off the controller and turning it back on still no fan speeds tried manual up and down no fan. got home and removed the fan from under the glove box and tested it on the battery,it works.i think i found the resistor just above the cab air filter.jumped the two large wire terminals and the fan turns, grounded the small wire and the fan turns.any ideas what it could be maybe the resistor???

Definitely the resistor.. Replace it and you should be golden... Most of the time however when they go out the fan still works on high.

I've noticed that on every invoice from the local Infiniti stealership there is a statement to the effect "Warranty is void on fuel pump if the fuel pump control unit is not replaced at the same time." I think you're seeing the same thing here where the overworked fan caused the amp to go bad and the dealer wants to make sure it doesn't happen again in the next 6-12 months (the warrenty period).

In my opinion, our blower fans are overworked because they are carrying the extra weight of all the dust and dirt that settles on the 30+ fan blades over the years. If the blades were kept clean I bet the Fan Control Amplifier would last forever and neither would ever have to be replaced.

Again, just my opinion. Let the flaming begin.
