I'm building a VG30DETT motor and I am in the process of selecting new camshafts and heads for my build. While I am familiar with most modifications, I'm no expert on this subject. I'm reading a lot to learn, however I have some questions. I am looking at this camshaft http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/custom ... PartID=527
and I know that machine work will have to be done for these cams to fit on aftermarket heads. What I don't know is exactly what machine work needs to be done. Has anyone gone through this process before? What shop did you use for the milling. Is there anything else I should be aware of beforehand?

All help and advice is appreciated :bigthumb:

What aftermarket heads are you referring to? DOHC engines for the most part aren't supported in the aftermarket like OHVs, you don't just go out and buy aftermarket heads for a VG30DE/DETT. Also, the factory heads on these engines are amazingly good. Lastly the cams are built to be direct fit into the factory heads, if your heads require machining (beyond a little clean up at worst) to make these cams work then there is something wrong with your heads, very wrong.

The heads I'm looking at are from Z1. I suppose they're really not aftermarket, but reworked factory cores. I spoke to Mike from EPR and he said that I would have to have head work for the cams to fit. If anything, could anyone recommend a place to have porting an polishing done. I keep reading about using a dremel and doing it myself, but I am not going down that route.

Why not go with IPP heads? They are built with your choice of JWT cams and Kyle has a great reputation in the z32 community.

Are you sure he was referring to machine work and not the replacement of some other portions of the valve-train ie. NVCS delete. I would also recommend Kyle, he's a very knowledgeable guy and has been in the Z32 game about as long as the Z32 has been around.
