1991 Nissan 300zx Twin TurboMy headlights and tail lights are out....only thing that works are the high beams. when i switch between high and low beams, the high beams stay lit. Is this a wiring issue or the headlight switch. I had this problem about two years ago and had the whole harness under the dash replaced and now its acting up again. I checked all the fuses and they are all fine but i read in another forum that might not be the case and I might have to replace the fuses too as well as relays. I will try the ecu diagnostics again and see if anything happens. So I have my whole dash apart trying to trace wires and all. I have an aftermarket radio with an amp, apexi avcd manual boost controller, and hks turbo timer 1. Could this be a problem with something not being properly grounded or do you think that my high beam switch is shot. This all started after I replaced my clutch/flywheel and transmission. RPS max street six puck sprung hub with rps segmented flywheel, jdm used transmission.I go to start my car and the starter spins but does not engage; yes it is a tt clutch, tt flywheel, and a tt transmission I think it is the solenoid and will probably just buy another one. I had to pop the clutch to get is started.... grabs like hell too! I replaced the battery cables as well, tried tapping the solenoid but still a no go. Also think i have a short somewhere because my battery goes dead more often than not and thats when i started retracing all these wires in the dash and in the center console. Sorry for the long post just posting everything i know. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!!!

coming from a mechanics POV if your battery keeps going dead i would say you have either a ground short or a wire short. i would chech around your bell housing and check tightness of starter wires. maybe you pinched a wire around the interior of the transmission hump when you installed the transmission? also i would say chjange the headlight switch, its cheaper than changing harnesses, and if its not the case you can tak it back. other than that check anything you played with(electrical or not) just before the problems happened. and as for the starter problem, again it could be a loose wire on the starter, or a faulty starter from manufacturer.

I had this problem as well, but was related to aftermarket car stereo wiring. With mine the "Clear Lens" fuse was blowing. I also had no dash lights, cigarette lighter light or license plate light. I was also told to check license plate light for short as it is exposed to elements. Sounds like your problem might be different though. Hope this helps.

Oh man the nightmare is back...tracing wires through out the dash, repeatedly checking fuses weeks and weeks of headaches from goin in circles......but enough of that...

What I found out was it was my ground wire on the passenger side under the fender had some how burned up so I had to replace that part of the wire. so I would check the ground wire first i found out in my car its all white (never knew that).hope this helps
