Where is the most common place for a KA24DE head to crack? I have water in #3 cylinder but do not see any external cracks. Does the head have a tendency to crack internally near the valves?

I do not see any definite breaks in the headgasket or external cracks in the head, that is why I am questioning if these heads are known to break internally into the intake or exhaust runner. Maybe someone has had a similar situation with this engine.

have you removed the head yet?if you have and want to check the valve for leaks, reinstall sparkplugs, flip the head over and lay it down on a flat surface(make sure cams are off)pour a gasoline just enough that it won't spill out of the chamber, recheck after 5 mins and if it's still the same amount of gas you poured on on each chamber, then it's good, otherwise you take it to a machine shop and have them pressure check and resurface the head
