have problems starting my 99 G20

here is my problem about two days ago my car would'nt start so i have it jump and it work after a couple of hours later when i got in my car to go to the store it would'nt start again so i figure it was the battery i have it replace but it still wont start after an hour later trying to figure out whats wrong it just starts out of no were i really did'nt do anything but mess around with the battery cables taking them off and on making sure they were on tight so everthing is alright i drive it around the block and when i go back home turn off the engine and then turn it back on but it would'nt start again so i decided to leave it alone about an hour and a half later i try to start it again and it starts but it makes a wired noise in the engine so sometime it starts and sometime it does'nt my friend says its the starter but we cant fine it in the engine please help!

Does it sound like a low battery problem...? If so, it could be the alternator..... And it probably got killed by the old battery being too weak to hold a charge......

I cant tell you where the starter is, but its probably not gonna be fun to get to..... It will definitely be easier than on a RWD car......
