If you are willing to "favor" one team over another, I am sure you can make more each game!

Realize that depending on how much you put down, you could very well be upside down in equity right now. With many manufacturers offering low finance options and deep discounts right now, the market for late-model used cars isn't so hot. You may get out of your monthly payment, but still may end up out of pocket to pay it off. The customization you have done will likely hurt you, or at least make it harder to see as you are severely limited your potential buyers.

Seriously...read everything.

He is living in something they own, sounds like they rent out a bunch of places.

And who expects a pay cut? There is a reason Hyndai has all their Job Assurence deals...that is NOT something you can plan for!!!

And he is not 30...he said he was 25ish, and with a 5 year loan he would be out from the car payment by the time he was 30.

wow u need to work on reading comprehension killer.

i'm 23. i rent an apartment. i pay for everything i use in my life with my own money that i earn from my job. that i got with a degree i earned, and am paying for now in student loans. i bought a 30k car because i had just gotten out of school and was a bit green to the real world, had a great (i thought at the time) job, and wanted something new and shiny, plus i could afford it. unexpected bills appeared (see: green to the real world)pay cuts happened when raises were expected.

hope u got that. now go troll someone else.

its not like i'm jacking up my credit cards or doing anything crazy, i'm not going to be out on the street, i just dont want to have to worry about my spending so much. but, i suppose thats the reality, i just spent the last day redesigning my budget to be much more detailed and will be picking up umpiring or some other convenient part time job to make up the difference.

I decided against selling the a/c simply because i would be replacing it with a 5-7k car, which would be full of issues and potential fixes. not to mentioned i'd just straight up be out about 15 grand, and still have a $250-300 car payment. much easier (on my credit score too) to just keep the car, dig my heels in and bust through the next 5 years saving where i can. this situation isnt impossible. i was just getting a bit overwhelmed by it all i think ...

I appreciate the ideas and support guys, yall really did help me come to a decision on this, thanks so much!

Id say that the first thing to do till you get some extra income or whatever its to cut back on going to the bar and social stuff. Sure it will suck but you gotta do what you gotta do

i havent seen him/her post in ages... lol

Rob im sorry to hear about your troubles, i hope things work out for you.

I got a mini suggestion. Try working at subway as a sandwich artist. 4 hours 3 times a week and check it out, you get a FREE foot long at the end of each shift. So either that is dinner for the night or lunch for the real job the next day.

i worked at subway when i was in high school it was a really easy job.

i used to umpire basebll during summers as well. but parents are just crazy nowadays yelling and screaming at umps for bad calls. it just ridiculously stressful. Even when I played college ball some players were just ridiculous to umps. It's npt the same it used to be.

Pay no attention to the idiot behind the curtain! He has never really posted anything useful here and he probably lives at home still too.

This economic down turn was unexpected. I mean we all saw it coming but I don't think in this magnitude. Everyone is hurting out there; its not just you. Even "Rock Solid" companies are laying off or reducing their work force. I'm a Sr. Network Engineer with Lockheed Martin and although I would like to think my skills are necessary, in the end in Corporate America, I'm just a number; a number than can be cut if necessary. I own my home and although all of my vehicles and toys are paid for, I still have a mortgage and all of the other utilities that goes with it. If I get laid off, relo is my only option at this point as there is literally nothing here in the sticks. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that. I understand what you are going through in wanting to do it ALL on your own but sometimes a little help from others isn't a bad thing. Don't dismiss that option either...

I know, I hate it when that happens. When I first read it though I thought "LUCKY BA$TARD!!!" Then I read you still had a mortgage and I knew what you meant.

But to your point on the Relo...I thought the same thing when I was laid off...the ONLY REASON I am in Ohio was for my old job...but, you get to know people through work and I found my current job through a co-worker that had switched companies 6 months prior. I think he saw the layoffs coming, haha

Wow sorry to hear your situation man, I hope for the best for you and the situation, and I am glad your parents are supportive of you. Like they said, if you REALLY love your car, then cut back on other things, but I think if you could delay the gratification of owning a nice car, then I'd say switch to a lesser expensive car AND cutting down other costs, but of course that's certainly up to you. When I am done w/ school in 2 years i will have 170k+ loans (w/o interest) waiting for me, so I will have a looong road ahead of me but I truly believe in delayed gratification and sacrifices, and I am very lucky my parents are supporting me w/ living costs.

But w/ everythign said, i hope you keep the car and stay w/ us

I have the utmost for what you do for our country...but TRUST me...you don't pay taxes, but the Government is still getting you in the end one way or anyother...haha. Skimping on the MREs is way #1.

I just thought of something...the government doesn't charge you income tax...do they??? It would be kind of silly for the Government to give you $5 then say "Oh yea...I need $2 of that back, right now"

That is almost Enron Esk...

Lol yea i know. We do pay taxes when we are in the states but while we are deployed our checks are tax free (well they still take out state) but yes i know the government takes what they can get. quick to take your money if you owe them slow to pay you if they owe you. but hey its life

This is the new Reality. We are going into a 7-10 cycle of struggling, and of not being able to have what were formerly considered necessities. You already own the car. To dump it & buy a different old one you will take a big financial hit, and a loss is a loss.

The new reality is that you will not have the toys, dating budget, private home/condo, etc for many years. In my case, my retirement age has been moved 10 years away, and the level of my retirement has been severely diminished. As long as you are not drowning, you are OK. Many people are drowning now as there are no replacement jobs available if you lose yours.

All of this is a best case scenario. I personally am sure that we are headed for a real, agonizing crash. Right now all you can to is hang in, and enjoy what you do have because doing better will be out of the question for about a Decade.
