hard core guru needed-steering question

when i bought my 240, the guy i bought it from said that if i put an S14 steering rack spring in my S13 rack, that the feel will dramatically improve. now i have never heard of this, but he said that several people on this board told him about it. he gave me the S14 spring with the car, so im just waitin for you guys to ok it then ill install it. please reply even though youve never heard of it, because i need SOME kind of info on it. thanks

there is a spring inside the steering rack, i guess to regulate pressure or something- i dont know, thats why i asked

S14 steering racks have quicker ratios and are stronger... the tie rods also are stronger by about 20%

He is correct.The S14 spring will improve response, but be sure you put it back together correctly or you'll never get the steering wheel to line up straight again.

There is a TRC for the spring. The '55mph wheel shimmy' problem can be alleviated somewhat with a new spring. I remember reading about this on a FAQ about two years ago.

yep yep.That's a big problem in our cars.At about 55 the wheel shimmies and shakes a tiny bit, and can be quite unnerving in autoX.
