I have to ask a question. It seems like everyone LOVES the 1911.What's the deal? I mean, to me it just seems like an outdated pistol. It'd be cool to have a WWI or WWII circa 1911, but the newer ones, I don't get.

Are they really that great?
I love 1911's...I, much like you, never saw the big deal about them. If you remember though, before the mag cap ban...everyone wanted a hi cap 9mm. During that period though a lot of folks decided to give up a few rounds in ravor of a much more potent round.

If you've never shot a high end or mid level (think base Kimber or the new sweet *** deal in the Taurus PT-1911) then you won't truely understand.

it's hard to find a pistol that feels and points better.

Moisins are fun as hell to shoot...I've got one that's been "sportized" I'd love to have a Garand so I can giggle when I fire the eighth shot.

Im sorry, but no.

Your saying "Olympic arms are some of the best AR's" than saying Bushy, Colt, ect ect have gone downhill.. LOL yeah right buddy. I just bought my bushmaster xm15 over the olympic arms version because of quality.. their just built better, not saying the O-A's are complete crap, but their definently not a bushy or a colt, rock river, ect ect; theres a reason why their $650-700 brand new.

yeah, i love that *ching* sound. even though your ears are still ringing after the shot, you can still hear it. ammo is out-the-*** expensive compared to his wife's ar15 ammo.

Olympic Arms?!?!?!? ewwww! I haven't touched one in about 7 years though...but GOD.

if I was gonna go buy one just for fun, it'd be a Bushmaster.

James,It is a M605 2" .357 5 Shot.

It is not a SP101 Ruger by any means, but for the money its a good little carry weapon.

they all look the same. just different sizes and lengths

hey Bud, how much did the Taurus run new?

I LOVE the SP101's. At some point, I'm probably gonna own a pair of them and a jackass rig set up to hold them.

have you tried the TAP out yet? I've got a couple boxes of 200gr in .45 I've yet to shoot because I haven't been to a range where I've got paper to hit.

James,I still have the original receipt and Andy would be proud, the original box. Remember Andy the original box accounts for a quarter of the price of a handgun (with a droning voice). I paid $285.14 that was a Sunday special at the gun show. Not bad for the price. I think the Rugers will run you a bit more, but are worth the price.

Haven't tried that TAP ammo out yet. I need to get out to the range. From the looks of it you posted up the picture of the Glock 17 which is the full frame 9mm. You are correct they all have the same styling, but the Compacts and the Sub Compacts are smaller than the full frame Glocks. I need to round all of mine up and take a class picture.

yup...the 17 is the most widely recognized though.

I was actually in the market for a .357 Glock but came across my XD at a good price. I hadn't really messed with them much and I despise the stock glock trigger. I found the XD to be much better and fit my hand better than a glock.

Don't feel like going upstairs to take a pic of the locker, but here's a list:

Franchi SPAS-12 (Special Purpose Assault Shotgun 12GA)SKS (with folding stock and bayonet)Iver-Johnson .22 lever action rifle (had it since I was 13)HiPoint 9mm carbine (cheap, but very accurate)UZI Baby Eagle .40cal (great gun, but kind of heavy)Star FireStar Plus 9mm (company's out of business now but it's a good gun)Smith & Wesson Sigma .40cal (my primary carry piece when I'm home)Titan FIE .25 (the throwaway)

I plan to get an XD .40cal as soon as I'm back stateside for a while. VA CCW laws FTW

how can you NOT take a pic of the SPAS! that's probably my most favorite shotgun ever.

does it have the goofy folder stock with the arm hook on it?

Yep. It has a red light on the forend grip and it's selectable between semi and pump action. I found it in a pawnshop back home in Michigan in like 1992 or 1993. I had just rewatched "New Jack City" (you know the scene where Nino Brown walks the nekkid dude down the street?) and I happened to see the SPAS in a store window. I got it for just under $1000. It's actually one of the guns that's not here in VA with me. The only pics I have are film types and I don't have a scanner.

Is there a separate thread somewhere for good deals you've gotten buying guns? I got the SKS and the Sigma together for $500 from a cop who got convicted of a domestic violence charge. It was a f***ed up situation for him, but it was great for me...

Yeah, I'd say the closest you can come that's worth it for the money is the Benelli M90 (although I did see a couple of those just come apart on the range at one of the bases I trained at ).

I hope for my next long gun to be one I saw in a magazine last month. It's an M16/AR15 style rifle that can convert between .50 cal and .22LR. It costs more than most of these guys' cars, though, so... We'll see.

I think if I had to have one long gun, it'd be the M1A Socom.

that thing is so freakin' cool.

I think if I could only have one, I would probably go with a Ruger Mini-14.... So versatile. Plus, Hannibal from the A-Team had one, so that automatically makes it gangster.

it's tempting..but it's a light caliber.

it's kind of a more badass and accurate mini 14

7.62x51mm ftw

Yeah, I know the one you're talking about... It is nice. I don't mind a smaller caliber for a rifle as long as I can land a nice grouping on what I'm aiming at, and I already have the SKS in 7.62, sooo....

I actually had a chance to buy one yesterday for 225...fair deal by all means, but I couldn't see buying another when I've already got a fine fine Russian....although...the damn gun is now 56 years old.

Nashville Meet brother

I need to go get another Moisin Nagant rifle.

one that's still in military trim...I'd like to get a sniper but they're about 400 and I can modify one to accept a new scope for less than 100 bucks.

I'd look to see M1A's dominate that shoot though...maybe some HK's and FN's showing up that are game.

Mausers would probably take pre Korea....I dunno though...how are the rules set up?
