Hello,

I'm looking to buy this '04 G35 I tested yesterday. I'll give you the run down:

2004 G35 Sedan31,000 MilesSilver on Tan

I would say I have been around cars for a couple years, but other than checking the paint quality, brakes, engine sounds, checking for rattling noises, and feeling the ride of the car, I have no idea what I should be looking for (issue-wise) when testing this vehicle.

I have searched the forum, but did not have time to go through every item. Hopefully you guys are nicer than the cocky/arrogant children at my last BMW Forum (I miss the V8, but not the people in the forum).

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to NICO

Your going to find those kind of people no matter where you go but it is a rarity here.

People here are EXTREMEly helpful

Since you sound knowledgable I'm going to assume you have had this particular cars history checked?

Also...try going here for common problems, complaints etc.. on these cars

Hope that helps!

Looking forward to having another NICOhaulic!

Welcome,

I know, buying a used car can be really painful. You are on the best way to avoid it. Smart choice to ask the owners what to look for. I am new with the infiniti but I can give you some advises generally. I know it is a huge business in Europe to turn the mileage back on the car especialy on the more expensive cars You spend 500 euro and your car is 40000 miles instead of 80000 you'll get for your car likely 3000 euro more. Some people driving cars too much in 3 years put 130000 miles in it. Well if you turn it back to 60000 miles we talking about big different in $ when you sell it.It is totally illegal but happens. I know the car companies try to make it harder and harder to be possible to do it. But still possible even with the double registering system. After I believe 2000 most car registers the mileage in 2 different stages. So say you disconect the odometer or take fuse out etc. and you conect it back 2000 miles later the other computer will turn the odometer to the right place. Like everything else this is not perfect either. There is couple of different things you can do to override the system.

There is some signs you can look for to see if there is the right milage in the car. Like when you first see you car exterior paint etc. Most of the time this is not really visual because they buff and wax it and looks brand new.I also recommend to take it somewhere to take the wax off from your car(strip) so you actually can see how the painjob is on your car. If you happy get another coat of wax on it if not take it back to the dealer to show them what they tried to sell you if you have the 30 excange or money back option. But there is some other options like leather seat, steering wheel, and brake wearing etc. I know it is still not 100% garanteed but helps. Also I would ask for the service book. Most services checking and registering the mileages in the book when you take it to the service even if it is just an oilchange. So if there is no full service history than I wouldn't turn away from the car and walk ....I would run. I know it doesn't mean the mileage in the car is not the true milage but there is a chance. I hope I didn't scare you with this but I thing everybody should be aware of this. If you need more info I can give you more just ask for it. I think it is already too long.If you are not sure about the wearing signs just check out other g35 with the same year and simular mileage and compare.
