It is a 1992 Sentra SE-R with a GTi-R sr20, I installed a lightweight flywheel and stage three clutch, along with a huge inercooler, BOV, thermal intake gasket, boost controller, Walbro 255lph fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (set at 38psi). I also put 2 1/2" all the way back with a high flow cat and a Borla muffler.

I used the SE-R wiring harness, installed the gti-r resister pack, switched the tps wires, I did the o2 wires as well (I am not 100% sure the o2 sensor is working or wired properly)

the crazy thing is the check engine light doesn't come on, it's on when the car isn't running, but no matter what I unplug or mess with I don't get any codes.it idles ok but I think it should be better, I don't know why it dose that sputter thing

I was messing with it a little and found that the idle gets a lot smoother when i turn the fuel pressure down, it also doesn't run rich, but I think 25 -30 psi is going to make it run lean at full throttle. I am currently installing a air fuel ratio gauge just to make sure I don't run it lean, when i turn the pressure down the idle goes up a little, but the idle screw doesn't seem to do anything (it did last time I worked on it, but I had to turn it all the way down to get it under 1,000 rpm),

I would be grateful for any ideas thanks

are you using factory Fuel regulator? if not you need to check what pressure are at idle and boost with service manual. make sure you are set same on aftermarket. also why are you using resistor pack with injectors, gti-r doesnt need external resistor.( as far as i know,)

I am thinking my problem is the o2 sensor,I have two o2 sensors, the factory Gti-r one, and an new aftermarket one on the down pipe, Right now the factory one in connected to the ECU and the aftermarket one I have been trying to hook up to an air fuel ratio gauge(with no luck) when I test for a reading off the o2 sensor I dont get anything(aether I am testing it wrong or the sensor went bad that quick because of the rich condition, not sure yet.

all the sr20det guys say the fuel pressure should be around 36 - 38 psibut it runs incredibly rich, (spitting black crap out the exhaust)when i turn it down to 26 -28 psi it idle better and stops spitting crap out. (still a little rich, but acceptable)

when doing a gti-r swap you need aether the factory resister pack or in-line resistors. the The GTIR 444cc injectors are low impedance and the sr20de injectors are high impedance Could a bad o2 cause it to run that rich (not just a little black smoke but black crap all over the ground behind it.)?or am I wrong about the proper fuel pressure?

ok, I worked on it a little todaythe crazy thing about all this is the fact that I am not getting any codes, I just checked it before I sat down 5 long 5 short (nothing). I installed the Air fuel ratio gauge along with its own o2 sensor (soldered and shrink wrapped everything). my suspicions have been confirmed, its running rich, haha. even when I turn the fuel pressure all the way down it still is rich its got 15 -18 psi of vacuum at idle, it doesn't hesitate, has more than enough power.I was messing with the idle, adjusted the tps back to .45 v.(was at .49) idle is just under 1 k but it is turned down all the way,(yes i unplugged the tps fist) could this be a symptom of my overall problem? What Should I check next?

sounds to me like an injector is staying open. expecialy if the fuel preasure is down and your still running rich. i had to take a heat gun to my injectors before they would seal properly. the stock preure is based on ecu. the lack of codes is why i love the OBDI set up.

be real carfull of the info you get about this swap. just a word of caution.

I never would have thought of that, I will give it a try. that kind of makes sense, when i first got done with the swap it didn't run near as rich as it dose now (and I have made lots of improvements since then)I want to do a wright up of the swap when I am done (I wish I would have taken more pictures, oops), information is spotty at best, I have spent more time on the computer than working on the car. the swap itself isn't hard and it is well worth the effort.

ok,, this just keeps getting stranger. today I detailed a couple cars, so when I was all done I did my car, Main point is I cleaned the engine compartment, degreaser pressure washer and dressing. as I pull it into the shop I notice the air/fuel gauge is right in the middle. but as it sits there it slowly richens back up

I try the heat gun on the injectors, start it up, it reads lean at first then slowly moves back to rich. (it dose this every time now)I pull the fuel rail and injects and had someone repeatedly prime the car, didn't see any gas leek out of any of the injectors.

i would recommend just getting stock gti-r ecu and use stock maf for testing. the resistor pack, and fuel reg seems to be the prob. my gti-r running 550cc injs. upgraed stock ecu, and z32 maf. my idle was 800 rpm, idle vacuum 8psi. gt2540 turbo, stock fuel reg.

good luck on finding the solution.

I have a very stock setup. I am using the stock GTi-R ECU, MAF and resister pack. I need the fuel pressure regulator because I also Have a walbro fuel pump.

I am pretty sure I found the problem (couple of them)well first, somehow I developed a leak between the intake and head, in my attempt to fix it I stripped out one of the lower bolts (F*@#)

With how tight everything is in the engine compartment and in the intake manifold I decided to take the motor out and really do a good job

well I got It out and the intake off cleaned the surfaces real good (while I was doing this I replaced ALL the rubber vacuum and coolant lines). then I put the intake manifold back on with the thermal intake gasket, when I went to put the fuel rail and injectors back in I noticed two of the injectors had large cracks in the pintle caps. so now I am going to take them down and have them cleaned and fixed before I put them back inneedless to say I had a bad weekend.

but I have been taking lots of pictures and I and after I get it back in I am going to sit down and do a write up of my swap
