Basically Im lookin to upgrade my turbo and dont know too much about the gt30 series I dont wanna go too big because of lag but basic specs and opinions on which one would be better for 250-300hp on 550cc,z32 maf,walbro 255,3 inch turbo back,afc neo,completely stock motor with good compression. and can anyone socket my ecu and burn me a chip for my set up on whichever turbo i decide to go with.

Yeah, that turbo is too big for 550cc injectors. If you are dead set on something bigger than an S14/S15 T28, check into the gt28rs (disco potato) which spools nicely on the CA for its size.

Also, if you are upgrading to a 3 inch exhaust you might as well upgrade to a 3 inch turbo elbow (turbo to downpipe peice), otherwise you are bottlenecked from the get-go.

A small T28 like one off an S14 might not bring you to 300hp. Get a GT2871R or a disco potatoe.

Still T2 flanged too...

an s14 t28 will not get you 300whp.

an s15 t28 will just barely scrape 300whp if you can get it to hold 20 psi.

These are Approximate Figures;

T28BB 210rwkw (280 rwhp) that absolutely max and you will probably need to play with your cams to achieve it.

GT2860RS (Disco Potato) 225rwkw (301 rwhp)

GT2871R 52 Trim 245-255 rwkw (328-341 rwhp)You will need a fair bit of other work to be done at this power level to make it last. I'll be making 230+rwkw (308rwhp) very shortly with this turbo but that is as far as i will be pushing the factory bottom end. Once i build the bottom end i'll be chasing the extra 20kw and i'll be running it all the time not just on the dyno.

P.S. As you go down the list the lag increases (i'm making 16psi just below 4000rpm) but leave the GT30xx turbo's to the SR boys that like lag.

If you are just looking for an upgrade to replace a bum turbo, I would get the S15 T28 (GT28R). Dont discount the fact that you will 'barely' hit 300whp with the turbo. Most people don't realize just how quick a 270-280 whp s-chassis is.

Yeah a 280whp s-chassis is enough to scare the hell out of most people.

IIRC the 3071 is a T2 flange and internally waste gated as well.

wasnt there a discussion about this turbo a month ago. TMS was asking about it compared to the disco potatoes IIRC for potential output.

there is a T2 rear housing option for the GT3071R, a fair few guy's down here in Australia played with then on their SR's, but a lot of them then upgraded to a GT3076 and used a T3 exhaust manifold.
