If I recall correctly, someone on this board has a gt3037 on their KA-T, I was curious what kind of power this produces, and other info I can gain. I was contemplating this turbo, or the gt3040, but I need to know specs, to see if they are really worth the money.

thanks,illspace

The GT3037 is a sweet turbo. They are expensive but worth the money in my eyes. The 3040 is a tad larger, which will induce slightly more lag but yeild more top end power. Of course, I believe each turbo is available in different trims.

The real question is, unless you're shooting for more than 400hp, what are the advantages of the GT versus a regular T3/T04E?

much quicker spool up and greater efficiency due to the more modern design. Longer life due to the ball bearing center housing. holds boost at higher rpm's too.

Yes i know it's more efficient, and will hold more boost (it's a bigger turbo lol), but how much HP do you wanna make? For anything under 400 there is no justification on spending the extra $1000 dollars over a T3/T04E 50 trim (which will probably spool within 250-500rpm of the GT). Both turbo's will give more than sufficient top end. Not saying it's not a good turbo, just giving you some food for thought.

Do you think with a gt3040 450whp on pump gas is attainable? I am seriously considering either of these turbos, if I decide to go the expenive "built" motor route.

no matter what boost you want, a propely matched GT series is gonna spool up quicker and give you a drastically increased efficiency over a t3/t4.
