The "R" will spool quicker but won't have the top end power that the "RS" will.

I think it's the same as the "R", but I might be wrong

Ive been quoted CDN$1,100 for GT28R and CDN$1,500 for either GT28RS or GT2871R.

I wonder which one I should buy and is it worth the extra money.

GT2871R is a far better buy than the RS. Externally, they both look the same. Both also have the same turbine side. The difference though lies within the compressor. The GT28RS has a 35 lb/min wheel and the 2871R has a 44 lb/min wheel. Thats roughly a 90 crank HP difference. People say the compressor wheel on the 2871R is matched much better.

^The GT2871R has four housing A/R size of .63 / .64 / .82 / .86

Which size is would be the choice on CA motor with least low end lag? Also, would the stock manifold clear this turbine housing w/o problem?

You would need the .64. The .63 is only for a T3 housing. The .86 would be too big. I don't know about clearance. I bought a tubular manifold just to avoid it in case it was a problem.

Turbine... compressor is just a standard T04B housing with a .60 A/R

Which tubular manifold do you recommend for my setup? Thanks for your help!

clearance will also be an issue with the motor mount. On the s14 SR turbo (gt28r) you ALMOST hit the motor mount (1/8 inch or less). Anything bigger and you will have to make something custom.

ssautochrome is the only one who makes an easily available mass produced bottom mount t2 flanged manifold. you could have someone make it for you, but for $165 for the manifold and dump pipe why would you?

Thanks for pointing this out.

Is the GT2871R bigger than GT28R and may not clear the motor mount?
