Ground strap on exhaust

While under my V yesterday changing the oil I noticed a woven metal strap thingy hanging off the floor. It was still connected to the car and the only thing I could find it would go to was on the exhaust, kind of near the cat. While moving it to see where it could go the other end came off in my hand. I haven't noticed anything different as far as driving or idling, so I don't know what this did. Do I need to worry about something not being grounded, or should I not worry? Sorry, I don't have a pic now but I could try to get one if that will help.
Oh yeah, 08 S hatch 6-sp, 80K miles.
