Well my friend and I have nearly completed the install. So far it has taken about 14 hours to have everything complete except the oil pan. Once it comes back from the welder I'll reinstall it and hopefully have the car running tonight. The kit didn't come with bolts for the fuel rail for some dumb reason so I had to get some 60mm m8 1.25 pitch bolts. I also got rid of the nest of crap on the manifold and just replaced it with some vacuum lines. There is no room for error when installing the turbo/downpipe/manifold assembly. It took a lot of wiggling and jamming stuff around to get everything to fit, but once it did we saw that all the bolt holes and brackets lined up perfectly. I hope these pics work. :)

By the way.... the manifold wasn't really designed too well to actually bolt in with all 8 studs. We could only get 6 of them to fit and that was with threading in one of them slowly while pushing in the manifold. If I encounter any problems with that then I'll be sure to tell all of you.

Nice! If ya don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the kit?

A little under 3 grand.

This is something that stumped me. The intake pipe that connects to the MAFS had a huge restriction on it. Look:

Here is where the oil pan was with the oil pickup removed. To get the oil pan off we unbolted the motor mounts and jacked up the transmission until we could unscrew the oil pickup. Once the pickup was off the pan just came right out. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

Heat shield came with the kit so I dunno how much it costs. Thanks for the positives guys. The welder couldn't do it today so I guess its another day of waiting. I'm going to go finish the gauges right now.

I'm not impressed....Huge restriction in the pipe? Thats retarded...nuff said about that. Manifold that doesn't line up on the studs...Bad design. From a company the size of Greddy I expect a better product.

I have one question for ya, are the exhaust ports gasket matched? If the alignment is off, I bet the exhaust mani runners aren't lined up worth **** either. Which will cause a horrible restriction. Glad it took 10 years for the kit to come out...

the restriction is probably to smooth out airflow, as the turbo is drawing in air through what looks like a 3" bend, while the MAF has about a 2.7" OD.

also... if you haven't done so already... get an intercooler on that thing........ considering the GReddy kit is almost a full $1000 less than other kits (FMax, XS...) it shouldn't be considered too much extra to get at least a cheap IC.

I guess I wasn't exactly clear on the problem. We could only fit 6 of the 8 nuts onto the studs. All the studs lined up perfectly. It was just impossible to thread the 2 nuts onto the studs because there wasn't enough clearance between the studs and the runners. Everything is port matched. Basically, everything lines up PERFECTLY. There is no room for error when mounting just about everything. The kit has a very high build quality. I'm still not very pleased about the restriction in the intake. I doubt it does anything to smooth out airflow since the MAFS is before the intake pipe. Its just redirecting air from the middle of the pipe to the sides.

AND I am getting an intercooler very shortly so don't worry. If Greddy designed this kit to be non intercooled then I'm going to trust them. I doubt they are going to put their reputation on the line because of an intercooler.

What would be the problem of removing the restriction? If there is no purpose for it, get rid of it or call the tech line and see why they put it in there.

Can you grind the runners and bolts down slightly to get them to fit? or perhaps cut the studs down a bit if it's a length problem?

I understand better now, I was thinking the alignment was jacked up.

yea the revhard mani kinda has that problem. the last bottom nut (cylinder #4) has to be threaded on while holding the mani up and out a lil

I could probably grind down the runners a little bit since the mani is about a 1/4" thick. :)

Update: Everything is complete, bolted on, oil pan tapped/welded. Fired her up first try and she started. Unfortunately now she's not ready to hold an idle. Running really rich, very rough, and extremely low (3-400 rpm) sometimes dying. I'm going to check back on the wiring of the emanage and see if I can find the problem or else I'm going to mess around with the idle adjustment screw to bump it up long enough for the computer to relearn the new maps. I really wish there were some good instructions right now on the s14 ka24de emanage. Everything else though is really clean. I'll try to get some more pics up tomorrow.

If its idling really low and running pig rich, just becareful not to wash the cylinder walls clean spraying to much fuel in. I've seen ugly things happen during tuning sessions. A friend installed 720cc injectors and programmed the PFC for 550's. She didn't run to well...lol.
