I know its really rich because there is unburnt gas just billowing everywhere. No coolant, no oil so those are good signs. I'm definitely going to go back to rewire the thing tomorrow. I'm almost positive that's the problem as I read the online emanage support guide.

check your maf connection. i've heard of a few people having the same problem and it was the maf not being hooked up properly. DaveEEE i think was one of the guys it happened too

Also check your IACV.... NA they can get clogged up and not cause as many problems b/c there is less restriction on the intake at idle. If your wiring is good and the problem persists try spraying air intake cleaner into the IACV liberally while revving the engine. Solved the rough idle/dying problem for me w/ my f-max kit. Although mine would idle fine at first but would stumble and die if revved to 4k then back down to 1k.

wat yr 240 did this go on? OBD I or OBD II??

i was told this kit was for OBD II?

EDIT: "This Kit is Designed for OBDII. If own a 1995 this kit will bolt on but if does not have OBDII you will need to purchase the Greddy Profec E-O1 or Support tool to reprogram the E-manage system."

from Enjuku

so is there a way to buy the kit and have them take OUT the Emanage and replace it with the Profec E-O1 instead?

The profec e01 is an emanage controller. They work hand in hand.

New update. I took the car for a spin. Still idling rich but much better than it was last night. I fixed the wiring problems. Under load its still rich. It backfired itself to death a couple times under a bit of throttle. So I want to figure out how I can get the damn thing to lean out at idle.

Use an afc. You of course would still want to use the emanage, but the afc could be used yo orrect problems that cant be tuned with the current setup...i dont know how complete the emanage comes with the kit. rich idle can be adjusted through the e-manage, right?

Isn't it supposed to be a bolt-in kit? Meaning no tuning needed?

I'd give Greddy a call.

I'd give Greddy another call but they already told me to "Contact your Greddy Authorized Dealer" for answers. What a bunch of ***holes. As far as the afc. That's what the emanage is. It just doesn't work at idle right now. I'm getting the software to correct the fuel maps ASAP.

Why am I not surprised? Who did you say you bought the kit from?

Basically... Enjuku. They have been very helpful and have tried to give me some tips. Greddy, however, has not been helpful at all. One guy always answers the phone and tells me the same freaking thing every time I call.

That sucks. Hope you figure it out once you get the appropriate software.

Dunno if this is any help or not, but most piggybacks have their have a connection for MAF Signal and GND on the unit... A lot of people connect the MAF signal wire correctly, but the ground gets sometimes screwed up. Make sure you connect the maf ground wire on the piggyback to the maf ground on the ECU because the ecu references the MAF voltage in respect to that ground.

Does the downpipe include a bung for the EGT and EGR?

Why would you use EGR on a Turbo setup? 1200deg exhaust going back in the intake?

Also, Have you checked your timing at all? You should be about 17-20 BTDC. When I did my install of my OWN kit, I had idling problems and misleading 'rich' problems, when it was actually running 0deg advance and it was just unburnt fuel.

Actually the kit comes with the EGR bung to keep it CARB legal. When I build m new motor I will get rid of it.

Rick: I've played around with my timing a little bit and actually made it worse. My car was actually advanced a couple of degrees. I retarded it a couple of degrees and moved it back to base timing. The idle problems are all corrected now. I had the emanage support tool overnighted to me so hopefully I'll be able to tell how much greddy messed up.

Bruin: I know everything is hooked up correctly. I've checked the wiring about 40 times now. Rewired 3 times. I'll check everything again though.

The Map that Greddy provides will likely be password protected. Some pre-programmed E-Manages have hit the shelves without the password by mistake, but it's far and few. If you get one that does not have a password, please share. If it is protected, then the only way to change the mapping is to reset the E-manage and lose the pre-programmed map.

As far as I know it isn't protected. I've just looked around with it a little bit without changing anything. How should I do this?

Most likely the afc has a lookup table, with one axis being rpm, the other being throttle position. In each entry in the table there will be a modifier number, which adds/subtracts the incoming MAF voltage and spits out the modified voltage to the ECU.

So your area of interests would be the entries in the tables where throttle position is at its lowest (I believe 0.5V is when throttle plate is closed), and where rpm is lowest

I am not 100% sure of this, but if you send me a screenshot of the software with the table entries I'll be able to tell you more.

ckwik is helping me out since he's running the emanage on his car. i can't actually modify anything on the emanage since it is password protected. the only thing i can do is log a minimal amount of data.

on a lighter note. here is my front mount. it's a blitz 3 row from my friends fd rx7. a couple bent fins, but its not beyond the realm of a screwdriver. no leaks.

I'm going to say officially that I can rule out wiring as the problem. Everything is soldered on solidly and the connections are fine. The emanage is outputting a maf signal that is approximately 10% off from the input. However, the correction for the larger injectors should be about 30%. Ckwik said his is at 29%. I guess all I can do is wait for the Greddy techs to get back from sema.

:thinker I've been looking at KA-T kit's for a while and the Greddy kit looked the most promissing. I liked the XS kit but have heard bad things about rising fuel regulators. has anyone else tried the greddy kit?

I fiddled with all the couplers and found that one of them was loose. Tightening it up fixed the major problems. I've been ragging on her pretty hard at 6 psi for the past couple days. Blew off the charge pipes a couple times. The idle is getting better. I'm just tweaking things here and there trying to find an idle. Overall, I'd give it a B-. The ease of installation was pretty good. The emanage maps kind of suck. It's still running very rich or very much on the safe side. EGTs nearly never hit above 1200 F.

I'm going to race a couple of friends and run the Gtech on it to get a rough estimate of quarter mile times. My guess is mid to high 14 which is about what I expected. When I get the front mount on her and get her tuned well for higher boost I hope I can do significantly better. For now, I need to fix an exhaust leak and some other piddly crap.

1200 isnt that far off, althought id be looking for a peak of about 1500 F. Just remember to shift right after you reach your peak EGT, which signals your peak torque and peak cylinder pressure.
