I got interviewed by the University newspaper in an article about cars, OMFG they totally screwed it up...
This is what I sent them:
Keith Lempa, a junior geography major and PR representative for the Texas A&M Sports Car Club, said his love for cars runs deeper than a hobby.
“Not everybody gets the kind of car that they want, but there are unlimited possibilities out there to personalize what you do have. I used to have a ‘99 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan that I got for a graduation present, and I always wondered what I could do to make it cooler. I decided to fix it up, so I added an intake, exhaust, Borbet wheels and was going to use a body kit to make the exterior look appealing.”
Lempa said that after he joined the Sports Car Club, his strong affinity for cars soon turned into an obsession.
“After I joined the club, I gradually began to get more involved. I started to attend all of their car shows and autocross meets. I saw many of the other members had amazing cars because of what they did with performance mods to the engine and suspension rather than the exterior. I decided to make my Cavalier a better racing car, and added Koni shocks, Eibach springs, and everything was all adjustable. The sports car club actually gave me the chance to race in a legal way, and that was my main motivation for modding out my car.”
Lempa said that after 250 autocross runs and $3,000 worth equipment, he found that his Cavalier wasn’t made for racing. “I ended up blowing up my transmission in November, so I had to strip down the car and sell its pieces. I got a 1990 Nissan 240sx, and started to go all out with performance stuff. I ordered a suspension, differential and engine from Japan, put 17” rims on it, I got new tires, a new front bumper and even new seats. I’m aiming to make it an all out racing car.”
Lempa said even his wife’s car got the racetrack treatment.
“My wife Lisa has a 1994 Honda Accord with a Supra wing, clear lights, Greddy exhaust, Eclipse subwoofers, an Aiwa MP3 player, Infinity Kappa speakers, and it has been lowered with Tokico coilovers so that there is only about a half inch of space between the fender and the 17” wheels. It is a very aggressive yet feminine car because it is a sky blue/silver color. It really fits her personality since she picked out all the equipment, and it has been in several car shows for the Sports Car Club as well.”
This is what they printed:

The sports car club actually gave me the chance to drag race in a legal way, and that was my main motivation for spicing up my car.”

I got a 1991 Nissan Z-20, and started to go all out with gear immediately. I ordered a suspension from Japan, put 17” rims on it, I got new tires, a new front bumper and even new seats. I’m aiming to make it look like an all out racing car.”

“My wife Lisa has a 1995 Honda Accord with a huge wing, clear lights full sub woofers, an Eclipse Aiwa MP3 player, Infinity Kappa speakers, and it has been lowered to where there is only about 2 inches between the fender and the wheels. It is a very aggressive yet feminine car because it is a sky blue/silver color. It really fits her personality. It has been in several car shows for the Sports Car Club as well.”
