Was driving with wife in our 2008 G37 S coupe when an altima toys with us on the highway, so I decide to drop to 3rd and playback, he does the same. My wife starts bitching about our speed, 88mph,so i back off and he takes off, flashes his hazards and I'm getting my punk a** balls taken away. I'm fuming now some punk thinks whoa I killed a g37!!

Anyone have their girl or wife do this???

I believe that I stopped street racing when I was 17 or 18.....realized then how dangerous it was to other innocent drivers and still to this day regret how stupid I was back in the day!!!! How old are you???
Please drive responsibly.
I suggest letting your wife do the driving.

I do need naws!! I can see the alti coupe fourms now ...lol He had all the decals of local racing forums etc..

I'm 30 years old and do not street race regularly at all. I drive a M45 regularly and have no inclination of racing in traffic or on public thoroughfares, but rarely does an urge hit me to have a little fun on our local 15 mile straight 4 lane highway road when there is no traffic around as far as the eye can see.

Had my immaturity level been slightly higher I would have disregarded my wife's safety and not have heeded her warning and floored it, But for our safety I decided to hold back and vent on a forum and reflect on how idiotic it would have been to do so and kill someone, Its not often I drive the G coupe so I had that urge. Yes its very dangerous to other drivers and may all the deceased victims of street racing rest in peace, im glad my wife was there to let me have it! Yeah I'll have to take your advice and let the one with the brains drive that car!! I'll save it for the track.

Most woman would react the same way...I would have done the same thing as you (been married for 14 years). Most people in GA can't drive (I'm from the NE) and it frustrates me to no end! But, there isn't much street racer shenanigans around here that I've seen. I digress....lol

Just remember what car you have and what car they had...should make you smile.

Making myself not street race is about the hardest thing for me to do. I have finally grown out of it, but I will take off firm from a light. Not full throttle, but firm. Either one of my cars will outrun 95% of the cars on the road. I just have to swallow my redneck pride and let them go. :tisk:

Around here street racing is jail time. :ohno:

yeah its not good to street race... but why buy a sport car if you not going to drive it sporty/spritied? defeats the purpose... waste of money... trade your G in for something slow... its very funny to see people who own a sports car flame a dude for feeling some of the power that made he/she by the car in the first place.

then its not like his post read like a little punk in a 4 banger, bragging about how he beat some car. :tisk:

lets all not be hippocrites, we on the G forum, a sports car forum...

I don't know. We could get on Maury and have them do a DNA test. :rotflmao

When I am nose to nose with a sports car, my adrenalin (sp) goes WILD. I used to have a problem sitting at a tree (drag strip) waiting for that last yellow light. Adrenalin pumping like crazy! Hard to keep my foot still on the pedals.

I believe there is a huge difference between street racing and spirited driving...yes, I'm guilty of spirited driving. Yes, both have their risks, but I believe that street racing poses a much greater risk.

Again, feeling the power and street racing are very different entities in my book...I often excelerate MUCH faster than I NEED to. I sometimes lean into a curve much harder than I need to....my def of spirited driving or feeling the power. If my post was seen as flaming, it was not the intent and do apologize. I think some of us older members have seen over the years some horrible things and feel the need to share what we have seen or what we have learned.

I don't think that you are a hypocrite if you once did street race and now see the dangers/potential horrific results that could/do happen and want to spread the word. I also don't believe that someone who does engage in spirited driving and does not approve of street racing is a hypocrite....all activites performed in a car pose some degree of danger/risk.
I thought that the op had an excellent response to my initial post.
just my .02

Everyone does something stupid from time to time. What seems like a good idea is not always so. The other week I was playing around on the expressway in the sedan with another 07-08 G35 sedan (AWD model). A couple of times we were doing over 100.....and it was raining

David will just say "Do you want to drive?"

To myself I then think "not this F150 LIVING ROOM!!!"
