this isnt just a story about me getting a ticket, but what the cop said about my car. I would have had 4 points for tailgating, 2 for careless driving, and i think he mentioned 4 for speeding but my shaking and nervousness resulted in a 2 point careless driving (improper lane change) ticket. DONT DO ANY OF THAT, I WASNT THINKING STRAIGHT! Anyway, before he leaves he says, "Its a beautiful car, but too much car for you. Too much power for you to handle". Really pissed me off...i was driving very well (illegal but well) and maneuvered perfectly on the highway I was on. Too much power for a teenager? Yes. Too much to handle? NO! I almost said that my handling was outstanding...but i decided to think before i spoke. Now im ready to get "flamed" for driving recklessly..but try to see past that. How would you feel if some1 told you that your z was too much for you to handle?

I'd have kept my mouth shut too...well then again my mouth is always getting into trouble becasue I don't bite my tongue when a sane person would

people in general are bad drivers, and in my opinion a sports car is a bad idea for a teenager, but anyone with a few years of driving shoudl have np problem handeling the meager power of a 350Z (sorry but a 300 hp 3500 lb car isn't what I considder to be "powerful")

on the note of performance driving, if you havn't yet I highly recomend everyone attend a few autocrosses, it's allows you to see just how good a driver you actually are in a safe controlled enviroment

I hate cops. My friend was pulled over a couple nights ago in a new tl. Once he pulled over he went into his glove box and was looking for the insurance. The cop came up to him and stuck the gun at his head and hand cuffed him on the police car. Called for another cop to come and then they both searched his car and gave him a speeding ticket, and a ticket for not showing insurance. When my friend saw that he was getting a ticket for not showing his insurance he told the cop that he had it in his glove box and he could show it to him. The cop replied "You have wasted enough of my time, now you can waste your time in court."

Lol. You don't just go digging through compartments as soon as you get pulled over. You wait for the cop to ask you for stuff and then get it. For all the cop knows he could've had a firearm in his glove box. And as far as the insurance thing goes, yeah that was a little prickish but if I remember correctly once a ticket has been written it can't just be taken back. You must deal with it in court.

Instead of whining you should be happy that he didn't get a bullet instead of a ticket.

If you get pulled over you keep both of your hands in plain sight, preferably on the wheel and don't do anything until they ask you to or tell you its ok to do so. If you need to get into your glovebox or reach inside your jacket or pants pocket to get something you let them know where it is beforehand and ask if its ok to get it. And when you retrieve whatever you to do it as open and predictable manner as possible.

But then if he hadn't been pulled over (I'm curious to know why) he wouldn't have had to deal with all the ancillary bs.

Smart reply about keeping your hands on the wheel. I've been pulled over once for speeding and was too nervous to move. It makes sense though. The cop doesn't know who he's pulled over.

He wasn't doubting your ability to handle to power. He was doubting your responsibility and respect regards to others with your power.

Think about it.

You are not an exception to the law. And I am not bashing you for speeding. But not signaling your intentions to others and riding behind other vehicles. You have no respect for others obviously.

Whining? Instead of being a prick, you should consider I was relaying a story...

I told him the same thing about not doing a thing unless the cop asks you to. It was the first time he was pulled over and he pretty much did everything wrong.

You're 17 driving on the horrible roads on NJ - you don't have "outstanding" handling - anyone can change lanes; or were you being uber cool and weaving?

The highway is not the track. You've been driving on your own for no longer than a year. You have nothing "mastered." Take your time, follow the law on the road, and keep practicing without doing anything illegal. You should be happy that you have the amount of power your car has - not many new drivers can handle sports cars to start, and if you continue on this path, you certianly sound like you are one of the ones that can't.

you know we have a couple of mods on nico that arre officers......

and yeah always wait for the officer to come to your car and ask for your stuff before you go unbuckling and digging around, that way you don't get a seatbelt ticket and you don't waste time looking for somthing they didn't ack for, our local insurance and registration systems are tied in so they seldom ask for any of that anymore

damn i feel you, don't even get me started on cops beingpricks. one time cop pulled over my friend and he asked himto get out of the car and asked him to SHOW his ID. then heput his hand to his back to get his wallet and he sucker pucnhedhim in the back of the head and handcuffed him. cops try to take advantage that most people don't know their RIGHTs. and they find a reason to beat him.and one other time, even though it was my friends fault fortalking back at the cop, he over reacted and pull him out offrom back of the cruiser and beat the **** out of him. i was 12, and he literally beat the **** out of him. batards.

Turning your car off can actually be a problem, if its an older car etc and it doesnt start back up.

That's actually a pretty small fine, did it get put in as a non-moving violation? From everything you mentioned in your first post it could have been more points and a much larger fine.

The bigger question though is "How much is it going to jack up your insurance?" You may want to opt for traffic school if it will keep the points from your license and keep you insurance premiums lower.

i looked into that. My dad said two points on his entire insurance plan of 4 cars should raise it, and it would be my responsibility to pay the difference. I called the DMV to ask about driving school, but the waiting time was twelve minutes...

Its has to be $25 and for the classes that you go to I have seen as much as $40. The state has a requirement that they have to at least charge $25

Anytime I get a ticket I always take it to a traffic lawyer. They always pay for themselves. For ex. my ticket was 225 and at the end I payed 183, and I didn't have to go to court. Usually traffic lawyers are $40 and they take care of everything for you.

everytime i get pulled over or am with someone getting pulled over always got all the info out of the box or out of the console while they are still behind me/us and never had a gun drawn. They walk up looking, that cop just got a hard on for the kid in the TL. Cops like that are ghey.

Maybe in Texas it has to be $25. In my class we got a 1 hour break half way and 15min break every hour.

Somebody taking responsibility for their own actions? In this day and age? Oh my God, you must be from the past! Just had to throw my 2 cents in to one of the few actually lucid posts.

Here's a novel idea for the masses, STFU and do the right thing, and if you do the wrong thing, don't b*tch about the results. End of soap box.

face it, you were driving like an idiot, swerving in an out of traffic and riding peoples as$es. you should be thankful the cop didn't impound your car and arrest you for wreckless drivingso he made a comment about you and your car. boo hoo. if you don't want cops or other people making comments about you being a teen with a nice car, sell it and but a piece of ****.you got off with a lot less than what he could have given you. stop complaining about what he said, own up to your mistakes, pay the ticket and move on.

Always turn car off, always keep hands on wheel, always have police/pba/fop chatchkies, always go to court with a lawyer.
