Post

So, a friend of mine just got back from a trip to the U.S. and brought me back a new copy of The Oracle, Godsmack's latest CD, released May 4th.

Initial impression of the CD is good.

Sully's lyrics aren't bad, and vocally he is strong as ever.
The opening track, Crying Like A b**** seems to be a stab at Vince Neill of Motley Crue, stemming from last years Crue Fest antics.

Shannon is solid on the drums as usual and brings a more straight-forward hard rock style instead of being very creative as he was for Faceless and IV. Still a lot of technical stuff going on, but not so experimental.

Robbie has some pretty kick a** bass lines on this set and his ability seems to be coming through a bit more on this CD. He locks in quite well with Shannon's drumming.

Tony is much improved over the last few years. A couple of songs he really shines in are Saints and Sinners and The Oracle...the latter an instrumental that goes through great metamorphosis from beginning to end.

Other notable tracks are Devil's Swing, War and Peace, Love Hate Sex Pain, and A Good Day to Die.

The more I listen to it, the more I start to like it.

Didn't realize they had a new one out. I'll have to check it out.
