i have a 89 240 right now, and my girlfriend is looking to buy a car, her choices are a 94 integra, any s13 240, or a 91-94 mr2, this is going to be her first car also, i told her to get the 240 since i know all about it and i can help her out with it, and we both thought it would be weird if me and her would be driving the same car, what do you guys think, i want her to get the 240 since i know the potential of it and how it handles, and i kinda like the idea of me and her driving the same car, feedback please....

Do it, tell her to get the s13.... My first car was an s13 and I've had my s14 for 3.5 yrs now. I had the same reasoning you do when her probe died (boo hoo im glad).

Its kinda cool because if she needs a part Ive swapped out I can transfer it over (well some parts) like her mech fan I swapped out last night with my old one I took off 2 yrs ago.

Also when you need to change your oil you grab 2 filters hehe. Since you will both have s13's nearly everything will be swapable, or allow you to grab 2 of for mantianence..

Its not weird but kinda cool in a way. When we go in seperate cars we ride in 2 gens of 240's... Mine will always be more sexy, faster, and handle better but she loves hers. The b**** is telling her not to rice it out.... She may fight you tooth and nail on that one and you may have to standdown and see a 240 get needless mods.... The only major thing for me was a neon liscence plate, but after 1.5 yrs the law agreed with me and its gone...hehe just wish it didnt cost her 70$, fkers

i choose the mr2, then the integra, then the s13..i don't know for somereason i just have this thing against girl driving a rwd cars. In my opinion girls should drive fwd cars because is safer + girls that drive mr2 are freakin hotttt. Also if you not driving your car for the night or something wont' you like to drive something else?

Interesting, I'm a girl with a RWD car and I have never had an ounce of trouble with it. :rolleyes Not to mention MR2s are RWD also, so you just kind of contradicted yourself there, champ.

Anyway, let her pick what she wants. Any of the three cars would be great. :)

She already pointed it out, and I just wanted to re-emphasize that MR-2s are RWD cars. If she wants to really figure out the wonderful dynamics of car control, send her to the S13. If she's loaded with cash and has a mechanic to fix her car, an MR-2 could be great. Yet if she's typically female, in the age range that I'm guessing (based on it being her first car)... I say go with the Integra. They're a dime a dozen so junkyard parts are easy to come by. She can get it in either stick or automatic. And, if you help her find the right one... you might even convince her to let you drive it, so you can feel the "supah d0p3, VTEC kik over!!" (GS-R and Type-R only) Which, although overhyped... is kinda cool the first half dozen or so times.

MR2 is mid engine rear wheel drive=meaning engine sit on the tire basically=more traction on the rear wheel, champ

and i said mr2 first because i think that's the hottest car for a girl out of those 3

If it were me choosing a car, I would narrow it down to either the 240sx (of course!) or the MR2. If she can't decide what she wants, just pick the most of mechanically sound of the two or three cars.

For what it's worth, I believe the N/A MR2's got an increase in HP in 1993 (up to 135hp for a 2600lb car - not bad). They have timing belts and not chains, and have non-interference engines, so no worries if the belt snaps.

I'm not sure how MR2's are with maintenance, but you might want to lurk in some Toyota/MR2 forums to get a feel for the cars.

Anyway, I love my 240SX but there's definitely no shame in going with the MR2. BTW, my girlfriend refuses to take my advice on car buying. She still wants an Audi TT and not a 350Z! ;)

Great MR2 Forum

This forum is filled with some old chumps who know their stuff, well, at least in the AW11 section. Anyway it has plenty of good info and it has a lot of members. (I'd recommend it even for non MR2 folks it has a pretty good racing section and someother stuff)

i'm convincing her to get the 240, because i know alot about it already, and it would be kinda cool to have your girl drive the same car as you.

if i were you and i couldnt decide between the 2 cars i would just look for both cars and get the first one that you find that would be worth buying you know..its easier to find a good car to buy when your lookin for 2 or 3 possible cars instead of limiting the search to just one particular type of car

oh and dont forget , the mr2's(turbo model) i hear are really fast and easy to lose control of, and that they re not the best car for begginers, and also they re 2 seater, thats another disadvantage in most cases....dont get me wrong i love mr2's and im gettin a 91 mr2 turbo within the next month or two(hopefuly) but for a first car i wouldnt suggest it, but it sounds like you already made up your mind so good luck

my $.02 /\
