I've never even heard of Gforce, any of the shelf ecu chip for an n/a will see only minimal p gains, as in 5-10 whp, if you want to get the most out of any engine an actual tune by way of zemulator, romulator, nistune etc will yield the most results

however, if you want to make power, get a turbo, the absolute best bang for the buck is the turbo conversion, while ti might seem like a small bump in ho (30 iirc) you can turn up the boost, add an intercooler or alcohol injection and really see huge gains over stock

i hear so many stories of turbo charged stock motors gettin blown so for a while i just thought of keepin it naturally aspirated and goin with a 93 motor for the DOHC and variable valve timing and gettin it bored. ne suggestions on wat to do mechanically so the engine can handle the extra power

ummmm, if I were you I'd stay away fomr the VG30DE, I highly prefer the single cam variant, and the DE only has 220 hp, the vg30det will run rings around it for a fraction fo the cost and a fraction fo the effort, the VG's are all very stout motors, and all the bottom ends are more than capable of handling well north of 400 whp, but if you want lots of boost, forged pistosn are a good idea

and I'nm not sure where you are hearing these horror stories, the VG30 n/a T is known to take quite a beating, and I was suggesting a VG30ET swap, you can turbo the n/a but it's much easier to just swap the entire engine assembly over, less time consuming

y stay away from the DE i understand more moving parts more things can go wrong but ur sayin the SOHC turbo model will b better than the DE N/A? and ive ridden in cars with the variable valve timing an i thought there was a noticable difference in top end and high rpm power. wont DOHC give better mpg and more power?

the DOHC is an overengineered PITA, everything cost more and is more difficult to do

wiring a DE into an Z31 is a complicated PITA, it is not plug and play

VVT does have it's benefits but is much more noticible in smaller displacement lower power engines, on the VG it's pretty seemless, and IIRC it's only about 5 hp more than the non VVT model

a VG30DE with intake and exhaust might get you around 200 whp, add cams and lightweight everyhting and you'll be lucky to see 250 whp

a VG30ET with intake exhaust, intercooler and boost controller will get you around 300 whp, upgrade the ecu injectors, and turbo and you're beyond 400 whp and beyond

as for fuel economy, they should be about the same if you can keep your foot out of it

if you really want a VG30DE, sell the Z31 and go buy a Z32 n/a you can find a decent n/a for $2-3k these days, you'll spend more than that in the cost of a decent Z31 plus all the bits and pieces to do the swap, and you can spend your time driving instead of trying to put bandaids on your busted knuckles

Where exactly are you finding "performance chips" for the Z31?
