I'd be willing to take a donation of a better cardMinisterofDOOM wrote:Honestly, datt, you'll be able to find an upgrade from that POS for dirt cheap. Just do that. You deserve a lot of credit for tolerating a GeForce 4 MX card this long. I was sick of them back in 2002.
Nooooo. This card is from LONG before PCIE.Looneybomber wrote:Is it PCI? Anyway, I have a PCI video card sitting around that I'm not using. ATI x1300 I think? x1600? I'd have to look.
Yeah, I know how that goes.Dattebayo wrote:I really don't have money to throw around at computer stuff anywho.
Nah, its AGP.Looneybomber wrote:Is it PCI? Anyway, I have a PCI video card sitting around that I'm not using. ATI x1300 I think? x1600? I'd have to look.
Its a DVI-D output on the video card, I use a HDMI to DVI conversion cable. I actually got it to run OK if I just have the card share the desktop between the monitors and run the LCD HD screen as the main monitor. I don't seem to have any issues running it that way but I would love to be able to have the desktop and icons on one side and the movies on the other side rather than one huge shared desktop. Oh well.Looneybomber wrote:what HD movie source are you using? Last I knew you needed DirectX 10 to play HDMI from HD-DVD and BR sources. In which case, you'd also need Vista since XP doesn't support DirectX 10...And you'd need a better video card than I have since it doesn't support DirectX10 either.
1216x684 For some reason, there are no normal resolutions for my monitor probably given that the driver that Microsoft has for it (Plug and Play monitor) is the only thing available for it.Looneybomber wrote:What resolution are you trying to run at?
Its not a player issue. I have to run work stuff on here, an I deal with codecs you probably haven't even heard of, so I can play anything I want and not have a issue with it. Not trying to be snooty, but I do stuff with PAL and other formats on a daily basis, I have a very capable player that I forget the name of. Thanks!Looneybomber wrote:Have you tried VLC player?...though it requires a better vid card than what you have or else your picture will just stop periodically while the sound continues to play.
Maybe, just maybe. I probably only have AGP 4X tho. Also, those internet site always have a shipping fee and some other crap set up to charge me, so no thanks. I hate using credit online also. I'm an old fashioned store shopper i guesspflicht wrote:If you are low on money try this card, assuming your mobo can handle 8x AGP

...um, seriously, I don't need another player. Mine does everything there is. Remember, I work in the video field for international security, so we have everything. I mean EVERYTHING.pflicht wrote:Lol... VLC will play sh*t that require codecs YOU haven't heard of... Try it, srsly!
Can anyone else back this up? I'm still not gonna use my credit card.pflicht wrote:Newegg is a GREAT place to buy PC parts from... If it says FREE SHIPPING then it is FREE SHIPPING. Good luck
Newegg is THE place to buy any PC parts on the internet. Period.Dattebayo wrote:Can anyone else back this up? I'm still not gonna use my credit card.
I was going to mention them as well in my post, they are also a great site. I think I may use TD to upgrade my system. I LOVE their combo packages, that's a great idea. I wish more sites would do that.Looneybomber wrote:Not to put down NewEgg, but I've always used TigerDirect.com
