The Nissan spec is 75w80 Non Synthetic Dino. Nobody sells that in the USA except Nissan. I'm sure some euro exotic shop in Encino might have it but .. I digress. Most DIY guys pump 75w90 into it. I went with 75W85 full synthetic and have experienced no leaks or anything. Its a bit thicker being AMSOIL I dont have any long term experience or anything .. no oil tests or expertise but I don't see anything that would make it unsuitable.
I agree with respect to the 75w-80 dino oil for the rear; Nissan is the only place I have been able to locate it and, if I wanted, I could even get Toyota or Honda GL-5 75w-85 full synthetic for decidedly less. It is a bit difficult to understand the Dino oil recommendation when, from all indications, synthetic appears to be superior.
I have experienced outstanding performance from Mobil 1 products over the years; so, I think I going to stick with the Mobil 1 GL-5 75w-90 in the front and transfer case and pick up a GL-5 75w-85 product for the rear. Thanks for the insight!
