I've got conflicting info from the fueleconomy.gov site that the FX35 uses regular gas while other sites reference premium gas. I know the FX45 uses premium, but what type of gas is designed for the FX35 engine (I assume it's the same for RWD and AWD)? Also, what kind of actual mileage are you getting in real-world driving: city/highway/combined?

did some searching and found a few tables on a few sites and they all list "Premium Unleaded" as the recommended fuel for all FX series vehicles.

The FX35 has the VQ35DE which is the same motor in most of the US V6 models. My maxima and the G's I have seen with the same motor stress Premium gas.

My '04 FX35 went over 16K on 87 regular with no indication of problem, my new '06 says in the manual that it will run on 87 but "for best performance" to run 89 to 91.

Since I don't do much "performance" driving, I'm sticking with the 87 unless I start having any problems.

Perhaps there may be some long term advantages for feeding the higher octane, but since I don't keep a car more than a couple of years and usually only rack up 15-20K miles I don't see much advantage for me.

Yeah, when I first got my FX35 I read in the manual that premium is recommended, but then again most manufacturers recommend useless stuff all the time that simple costs more money with no added affect. I have always put at least middle grade (89 octane) fuel in my FX, and sometimes I splurge and treat my baby to some 91!
