So for the few of us that are maintaining their 1st gen Q's, the lack of Nissan parts support means getting creative. I'm slowly putting together a list of options, particularly related to plenum hoses.
Nissan used very high quality (and purposeful) rubber, I for example have some 25 year old factory rubber that not only doesn't leak, but is still somewhat pliable. Still, deterioration is inevitable.....
There are 4 hose functions that immediately come to mind:
1) water/coolant
2) gasoline
3) air/vapor
4) petroleum fluid
each of these came from the factory with a compatible rubber formulation, so generic replacements must respect the type.
1) The water/coolant hoses are EPDM rubber and are not compatible with gasoline, may not be compatible with other petroleum products. EPDM can be used with all modern coolants including OAT, hOAT, water wetter, and the generic 'green/yellow' ethylene glycol coolant. Gates rubber claims to offer an EPDM hose that meets SAE20R3- class D1 standards.
https://www.gates.com/us/en/fluid-power ... /p/p100826
D1 suffix is important because it denotes "improved service" and the use of EPDM compounds.
Gates/NAPA are presently branding a line of 'electrochemically resistant' small diameter cooling hoses, but in two samples (one Gates branded and one NAPA branded), I could not verify that the actual hose meets class D1 standards (it is not marked as such, and the samples do not have the smooth outer jacket as shown in the Gates catalog).
I did however cut to fit a portion of the NAPA 10202/Gates 18202 hose in place of the 14056-64U04 obsolete factory hose (14056NA in the online parts diagrams) that goes between the throttle body (or air-cut control on some TCS cars) and the plenum EGR. It has now been in service for 100 miles and 10 cycles and does not leak. I reused the factory 16439-56S00 clamps on this hose.

Thank you! For those of us who forge on, ownership will definitely become more about what we can carve or have carved out of a block of aluminum. 😐

2) for gasoline hoses, the factory used something called "hiprex'. it holds up well, there is some debate about it being rated for E10, as of course the Japanese engineers in the late 80s never contemplated this. I highly recommend the current issue Nissan bulk hose for replacement--just cut to fit:
A6440-N7686. It is labeled "FPM/ECO" It's pricey!, but..... The ECO rubber is the shizzle..it goes by the trade name 'hydrin'. FPM is a high grade fluroelastomer (see 'Viton'). The same Nissan fuel hose is used on a lot of newer cars so it is E10 and probably higher E20 compatible plus, it simply doesn't leak. for anyone that has used 'fuel injection hose' under their plenum and gets tired of the cold morning gas smell...the Nissan bulk hose works! Note the FPM/ECO is not suitable for use with coolants.

Also, I have a fuel leak under the plenum. It looks like my former mechanic used standard hose clamps several years ago. Should I use typical fuel injection hose clamps (screw type) when I replace the hoses with EMP/ECO hose?

Those ebay hoses sure look purty. that particular listing is only for the 2 hoses that are at the bottom of the valley. Factory part numbers for those two hoses are:
14055-f6511 and 14055-60u60 they are still available, but one could also get the same nissan rubber for less by cutting small lengths of bulk hose (both of those pieces are short and straight).
as for the fuel injection hose clamps, I would definitely use the nice round screw type (NOT worm drive). the factory clamps are #16439-53A00, and of course they fit perfectly, don't leak and would get full marks at a car show. I do find that the phillips heads can wear/get sloppy over time. and they can be difficult to access when the octoplenum is in place. most of the aftermarket pieces have 7mm hex heads which are more user friendly. be sure to use the correct size, as those have a smaller clamping range.

Aot A6440-N7686 fuel hose for a good price on Ebay. Its definitly NOS. Its in a Nissan parts bag with stickers, but previously openen. Hose is supple, says DII6507 on one side and HIPREX on the other. Is this the right stuff?

link to the ebay hose?
Hiprex sounds like the stuff that came from the factory on our cars. So the part number is the same, the actual stock may be quite old. I believe the FPM/ECO production superseded HIPREX.

I would go for the FPM/ECO fresh stock from Nissan, as it is pricey, but not that much more than the old Hiprex.
I just removed some hiprex off the 95 (fuel filter inlet). it was still pretty pliable.

Power Steering Pressure hose.

I just had my pressure hose rebuilt at Pacific Rubber Inc. in Seattle 206-262-6800.

They braze your banjo fittings onto a hydraulic hose. Works great, same day service, $36.00

Hey David-
Are you pulling the upper plenum to do the hose replacement?
Here's my observations:
1) on the hose, bear in mind that I have 2 G50s. The first time I did hoses (on the '94, way back in 2005), i used the 'best' 2 ply hose that Gates had to offer. it had the famous G50 cold leakage problem for years after that, I first tightened the factory philips head clamps (several times) until the heads were pretty stripped out. I then replaced those hose clamps with hex head of similar design and carefully positioned them, so that I could get to all 6 under plenum clamps in situ without having to undo anything. This works, but still, i occasionally have to go in and snug them back up to kill the vapors. in 2007, when I replaced the 6 under plenum clamps, I also replaced the rail to rail segment under the decorative cover with genuine hose and (re-used) the best remaining factory philips head clamps. This segment of the system never leaked again, nor has it required re-tightening.
2) on the '95, I did the underplenum in 2009 using all OEM parts, including the genuine nissan fuel hose referenced above. I reused the factory Philips head clamps. No fuel leak ever, even below freezing when she sat out outside during 2 x-c winter trips.
3) on (my) FGY33, it used a combination of the -53A01 philips head clamps, and the spring clamps from the factory. I do not know why. I elected to go with 100% genuine nissan hose and the -53A01 clamps when I re-did it. Never leaked.

so that's my experience.
Give me your address, and I will give you 3 feet of genuine hose (granted it's about 6 years old, always in a box in the garage).

Thanks for starting this thread. I was going to get a plenum kit a long time ago, but by the time I went to buy it, they no longer offered it.

I will help whoever needs it with the original part numbers (you can also find these online diagrams on infinitipartsdeal.com and the like). Note that IPD won't actually have the hoses anymore, but the diagrams can be useful.
Most OEM rubber is still available through Amayama.

Im in the process of finishing up replacing the knock sensors. All the rubber hoses were still pliable and seemed ok. Didnt want to replace them since its going to be sold soon. For the fuel lines, I am using Gates 5/16" 225 psi rated hose that will work with flex fuel(e85). It has a barrier in it for that reason. I wont use e85 but e10 sure wont hurt it, lol. Dont want to cheap out on gas lines, especially since ther ate easy to get to.

I'm sure the fuel hose won't burst from pressure. Doesn't mean it won't leak however.
