My A/C compressor seized on me and so I am replacing it with one i have from a spare motor that only had 12K miles. I am replacing the Accumulator/Condenser at the same time because I'm told it cannot be flushed.

How do I flush out the remainder of the system before installing the new parts - and is it NEEDED? Or should I not worry about that?

Nissan shows that the system uses Nissan UV Luminous Oil Type S - I'm told that this is PAG 46 oil is that correct?

I called Infiniti and they didnt have any in stock and couldn't tell me what type of oil it is

thanks

From what I could find with a google search, PAG 46 is the equivalent.

I'm not sure about the proper way to flush everything, but I can tell you what I did on my old truck (97 Hardbody) that worked for me. I bought an a/c system cleaner at Autozone (or one of those places) and poured it in to the various hoses and tubes using a small funnel. Then I blew the lines out with compressed air. It was messy... this stuff is a very very light oil of some sort. I didn't get much out, but my problem wasn't a bad compressor. I had a hole in my evaporator coil from someone trying to clean out the drain tube with a long screwdriver. I have heard that compressors often cough up a lot of crap when they fail, so I think flushing is a good idea.

I replaced all of the o-rings and pulled a vacuum on it for about two days... not necessary to pull the vacuum that long, but I got tied up with something else and just let the pump run. Be sure to use a new dryer.

For the recharge, I had to manually jump the contacts at the compressor relay, because the dual pressure switch wouldn't let the compressor come on due to low pressure...

Good luck!

Heath

thanks for the response

i have a new condenser & accumulater(drier) that I am installing at the same time. I had just never heard of flushing the system before.

Never had any AC problems before - I ended up buying PAG 46 because all the info i found pointed to that. New O-rings as well.

Hopefully everything goes smooth as i install it today.
