Folks, I'm based in the NY metro area and have a 2007 G35 coupe with 37,000 miles. Would love to keep it for no more than 2-3 years. Wondering whether anyone can guide me as to the following: (1.) Is an extended warranty practical given my plans? (2.) Are there any reputable warranty providers that I should consider? (3.) What type of plan makes the most sense? Thanks and looking forward to any advice.

It's difficult to say whether or not an extended warranty will be worth the cost or not since we cannot predict the future. You may be lucky and never experience any costly repairs over the next 2-3 years. If you decide to go with an extended warranty go with a Nissan/Infiniti plan. The type of plan depends on how much you want to spend/can afford, the level of coverage you want to purchase and whether your want a deductible plan or not, et cetera.

I purchased a Nissan extended warranty when I bought my 04 used.
Used it a few times before it expired, so it paid for itself in my case.
Check prices at Nissan and Infiniti.
Also, if the warranty is transferable, might be a selling point when you go to sell, so not a total loss if you don't end up using it.
Check vendors here for prices and compare to your local dealership.
Seems I saw mention a Courtney at Scottsdale Infiniti??

Much appreciate the feedback and guidance. I'll look through past posts as you suggest as well as checking with dealerships.

Welcome to NICO

I am no fan of extended warranties and usually decline their purchase. However at just under 50k miles the service adviser at the Infiniti dealer mentioned to me that because of the mileage that I'd been accumulating I might want to consider it. The Infiniti Elite warranty was $1950.00 at the dealer. They charged my credit card over 10 months with no other charge fees so I took it. I used it for a few items including air bag sensors, air bag module, tire pressure monitor sensors, etc.
The only repeating problems I've had were tire pressure sensors and air bag flashing warning light.
Last March at 137k miles (Extended Warranty expired) the air bag flashing warning light returned.
The dealer checked it all out and informed me that the problem was in the wiring harness and the entire harness needed to be replaced.

The cost was $2200.00
I was able to argue successfully with the service manager at the dealer, and Infiniti Customer Service that the wiring harness problem should have been discovered on previous service visits for the flashing air bag warning light problem while I was under warranty. I was not about to fork over $2200.00 especially as one who refuses to pay an extra $.30 a gallon for premium gasoline. :)
We settled on each paying one third ( Me, the dealer, and Infiniti) so it cost me $750.00 for the new wiring harness.

So I was glad that I did purchase the warranty and if I ever decide to purchase another one I would purchase it at the dealer and not at some third party.

So my friend you have a decision to make.

Place the cost of the warranty in a bank account and hope you never need to use it or spring for the cost of the warranty. All you are really doing is adding additional $$$ to the cost of the vehicle.

BTW I expect to hit 160k next week

Good luck
