I would assume 1996 since all cars were required to do it then ... right?

I thought so as well, but to add confusion see the attached page/chart. Scroll down to "Nissan" G20 2.0L.

http://invehicleproducts.com/obdII.html

So you asked for help and here I am confusing things

Rex, it sure seems like the 1994 and 1995 G20 had it too, if this site is right! But I am surprised it does not say Infiniti in the Make column (like the Lexus in the Toyota info).

There was talk on G20.net that 1994 and 1995 were in fact OBDII, but I also thought 1996 was the first year, same as the Q. How can I find out for sure?

Quote »How can I find out for sure?[/quote]Maybe you can contact Infiniti Customer Service. Or download the manuals (if those years are available) from the Nissan tech web site ...

Ok, I think this page will clear it up for us.

http://www.obdii.com/connector.html

You may need to check/compare your connector.

I checked the connector on my car (under the interior fuse box?) and it DID have 16 pins, but the configuration didn't match any of the three listed. Now I'm really confused.

If your g20 engine/ intake manifold looks like this then it is OBD1, on obd2 they had a different head and intake manifold, I probably have it in reverse but the earlier 91-93 had low port, the 94 up had a high port design to stop puddling in the intake manifold and for cleaner emissions. correct me please if im wrong. The obd2 car you can see the whole top of the intake manifold and the throttle body site higher as well.

I have a different intake manifold and the throttle body IS more visible. I must have the OBDII! At last a definative answer. Thanks to all who replied.Eric

ODB2 is easy to spot more than 1 O2 sensors per bank [front and rear [behind the main cat].
