So, a few days ago I go to a futureshop to get quoted on a alarm install.

They tell me they can install the Viper 5002 with keyless got 390$ taxes in.

So I figure that is a good price, so I go for it, schedule an appointment....

Now I get there, the guy does the install, and after it is all done, turns out the ******* who sold me it didn't actually put keyless to be hooked up

So now I have to go back tomorrow when the guy that sold the alarm to me to try and get it hooked up. *sigh*

Just wondering how hard it is to hookup the keyless entry system to a 08 Versa S? I've installed an amp/deck in the car, but never have had to tap into any car electical before.

It will cost me $50 + taxes to get the keyless installed which isn't much, but it pisses me off they couldn't have gotten it done right the first time.

Wow... now there's a company name I haven't heard in a decade.

Well, except for when I'm watching Hockey Night in Canada.

rdsworks - did your car originally have the keyless entry system, and you're just looking to have the alarm hooked up to it? It shouldn't be too difficult for them to do, it's just like any other car. The only thing that would screw with it is if you had the iKey system. But you have an S, so you don't have that option.

I installed a viper 5002 in my car myself (bought it online for $170). It was my first time installing an alarm and everything works perfectly. I would suspect that the keyless doesn't work because they did something wrong with the lock/unlock harness/wires.

You will probably have to do some soldering. Either they didn't hook up the harness (unlikely), they soldered the wrong wires (hopefully not!), or they hooked up the wires wrong (there are many types of door lock harnesses - the versa uses a 3 wire negative system).

You have to pay to get something done that they originally told you they would do?

They actually didn't hookup ther harness... they want $50 to hook it up :S

Im going tomorrow to talk to the guy that sold it to me because he said it came with it.

I have the vaslue option package, so i have power doors, just a matter of getting the alarm connected to it.

I searched the forum abnd found a post with you (JoshH) talking with someone. I know i have a unlock/ and lock wire. and another one? from the looks of what a saw on your post. where is the best place to tap it (the guy suggested behind the glove compartment, but I would rather just tap into the wire on one of the sides (where the rest of the wires are)

I said a three wire system as an unlock, lock, and power to the door locks (basically a two wire system). I got it behind the glove compartment box because I installed the brain above the glove box so that you would have to remove the whole thing to even get to the brain. I don't know exactly where the lock/unlock wire is on the drivers side but I believe the wire harnesses and wire colors were stated in the posts you were looking at.

Always test the wire before soldering it. To test the negative door lock wires, connect the positive side of a multimeter to the positive battery terminal and connect the negative side to the wire you are testing. Turn it to DC voltage. When I was checking, I saw an increase (about 3V or so I believe) in voltage when locking/unlocking on each wire respectively.

I feel sorry for anybody that has to install an alarm on a 13K car. I'd never live in an area I'd have to do that. I almost did take the Versa to a Cubs game the other day though. Still wouldn't worry about it.

Futureshop. Sounds like a movie.

Is this the kind of car alarm that does all those beeps and tones that no one pays any attention to in the parking lot?

As for insurance, I would take pictures of your install, and send your agent the pics, serial numbers of equipment and receipts of your stereo purchases.
