Hello all,I have had my Nissan Rogue for not quite a week and I really really love it - this is my first non-GM vehicle. Anyway last night stopped at an intersection this odd smell started coming in through the vents. I can't quite describe it. Maybe almost like a cooking smell, not quite a burning smell? Once we started going, the smell seemed to slowly go away. But I also turned off the heated seats at the same time, so I wondered if that was it. But once I was home and it was parked in the garage, I could definitely smell it again - both at the front and the back of the car. It has less than 300km on it.

It's most likely a normal smell that goes away relatively quickly. I'm not sure exactly what the source is but alot of new vehicles do this including Hondas and Toyotas. It seems to be associated with the heating of exhaust or the engine it should not be coming from the interior. I'd give it a few days.

Thanks. I think I just needed something to put my mind at ease, not ever having driven a Nissan or something with CVT. I really love my Rogue. I loved my Vibe (had it 5 + years) as well, but I wanted something "new."

Perfectly normal. It's just coatings that were either on the engine or the exhaust that are burning off. Whenever you buy a new exhaust system you get that same smell. could be plastic or chemical coatings.
