hey guys, i'm looking to buy a g35/37 and i'm trying to decide between an 08 g35 journey with nav and premium package vs. a 10 g37 journey without any options. Price for the 08 slightly less than the 10 but not much. About the same mileage ~30k. i really like having a fully loaded car especially with the premium audio and sunroof, etc. but the g37 has the better engine and gas mileage. Thoughts on which option is better? Thanks!

if you can live without the extra HP, i would get the fully loaded 08... as the G is not the same car with out the nav and prem package, those are must have options in my opinion. Plus you saving money, an 08 G is still a young car.

Thx for the reply. So the 2010 premium package only adds the moonroof, bose, memory seats, and power telescoping wheel. The heated seats, auto dimming mirror, etc. are all included in the journey model already. The only thing I would really miss from the premium is the moonroof and audio system. And the bluetooth audio streaming in the 2010 nav package which isn't available in the 08 anyway... hard decision!

Does the 2010 have the hard drive stereo head deck? I couldn't live without that in my G!

I would go with the newer car...the value will hold better on the 2010 vs. the 2008.

Based on the owner's manual, you can run reg gas in the 08 SEDAN, but not supposed to in the 09 and up SEDAN.
Our 08 does not have nav or prem, but does have sunroof & heated seats....but, more importantly for me it has an X. :yesnod

yeah if you thinking about car value, i agree go with the newer car. I specifically bought the 2010 model cause it was a refresh year and i knew it wasnt going to change til 2013. with that said if you can wait a couple more months, you could get the refreshed 2013 model. i just added another option LOL

08 has the best reliability of 07 - 10 years per Consumer Reports. I'd go for the options over the base model.

I ended up buying an 08 journey with the premium + performance tires package, no nav. Pretty stoked about it! Any must have mods? I definitely want to connect my motorola atrix to the LCD, but doesn't seem like a possibility from what I've gathered so far...

atrix to the LCD? i think it only has a USB AUX connection... not sure if they have the RCA video input on that year.

An '08 with most options for near the same price as a '10 with Journey? Pfft, I'd get the 2010. Newer car, has full warranty, will have an overall higher value as time goes on even though it does not have all options.

I have a fully loaded '07 and a journey/sport G37. I'm just as happy with the G37 as with the loaded G35. Daily driving I would rarely use any of the additional features other than Nav and for a couple grand at most you can usually swap in a used nav system off ebay anyway.

Go with the G37

actually the 2010 g37 journey ended up being ~$5K more than the 2008 G35 journey with premium and performance tire packages. I decided the newer car wasn't worth the extra $ since the difference was quite significant.

Any other car and I would argue that the 2010, which has a couple years of warranty left, would be worth the $5k difference. If the used '08 has been maintained properly you won't have any issues with it regardless so it's . You may have a tiny bit of warranty left so figure out what you think needs repair and take it to your local Infiniti dealership.

The car has 8 months of factory warranty left. I also bought an extended service warranty (3rd party) for 6 years, 100K miles, 0 deductible for $1900. What do you guys think on whether the extended warranty is worth it, and did I overpay for it? It's offered by Western General/Protective and is the Select plan - http://www.protectiveassetprotection.co ... ive_Select

Should also mention that my G35 has 30K miles and I'll probably only put <8000 miles on it each year

I wresteled with the same decision and did the same thing you did...went with an 08 g35x with sport package and premium minus the nav/technology versus a base journey model 10. The only think I am really regretting is the non rear view camera option in the 08 without navigation (I am trying to figure out how to get it added since I already have the screen in dash) and the revised front fascia (maybe that was 11 not 10) where I would like to have a front chin lip spoiler added to have the look of the 2010 straight from the factory. I also did the extended warranty and got the car certified and when I have had loaner g37 bases from the dealership, like the throatiness from the g35 vs the g37 engine and could not tell the horsepower difference. I could tell a slight difference in the 7speed v 5 speed transmission, but not enough to make a buying decision difference.
