I am putting together a turbo kit for my 240sx, I am basically there except a manifold and FMIC, but it is *really* frusterating putting so much money into this and having no returns yet, plus the downtime when the turbo goes in, the unforseen problems with boosting a 103,000 mile KA24DE, all the custom work (intercooler pipes, intake pipe, battery relocation, BOV mounting, downpipe etc.)

Anyways, I was planning on about 250whp. I don't really want something uber-fast, but just really fun. I know 250whp is almost impossible on N/A without some hardcore mods, but I was thinking about modding it N/A for reliability's sake and less custom stuff. This is my commuter car (~2 hours daily highway driving) so downtime would be a major problem. Plus due to financial difficulties it may be a while before I get the intercooler and manifold.

My plan is this: I already have a cone filter, ASP crank pulley and JWT N/A ECU installed. I would probably move the battery to the trunk (already have the kit :) ) and make a custom short ram intake for a few horsepower, sell the turbo stuff and use all the money to pick up a hotshot header and the PDM stage 2 cams. My exhaust will be here any day now (3" cat-back with 2.5" silencer in back) And I suppose anything else you guys can think of for N/A applications for some power.

Compression is perfect, leakdown is perfect, my car is in top shape. What do you think I could do with all these mods, short ram intake, JWT ECU, hotshot header, PDM cams, cat-back exhaust, crank pulley. I already have a LSD, SPEC clutch and fuel pump. What kind of power would I be making? How fast could I run a quarter mile on street tires? I am interested in autoxing and I think the power delivery N/A would be preferable. I am looking for something fun, so hopefully I can do it N/A.

Thanks for the help.

With all those mods, you'll be lucky to hit 165rwhp.

I have yet to see a dyno over 160rwhp without high compression pistons...and the most I've seen from a KA in N/A form is 171rwhp with 11:1.

I made 157rwhp with most the bolt-ons you've listed...and ran a best of 15.2 @ 92mph.

But it was fun for auto-x...

I am in the same boat, trying to build as much HP as possible into the S14, you have to do some HEAVY mod's. I was debating too whether or not to go TURBO or to build it up N/A. Here is what I have concluded, hopefully it will help. I realize with the money I make and that it's a commuter car as well. It's going to be in "Stage I" for a long time...I'm going to build the HELL out of the KA motor and when it's dead...skip the turbo, skip the sr20DET and go straight to the RB which is more rare and would be fun to mod (IMO)! If you want to be like everyone else stop and save enough for the SR. I've been told countless times to swap to SR, SR, SR or turbo the KA. I've decided to do neither. There are few cars out there producing over 200rwhp+ i'll try to get the links. I figured keep the KA build on as much as I can then when it's dead, swap. With the ka motor it's stictly going to be street, fun, and a daily driver to work :)When the RB is in, time for serious drifting and auto-x.

Sorry if i didnt' give specifics of what to mod on the KA because I am new myself and don't want to give any wrong info but I'm trying to help the situation which we are both in ^____^Good luck!

P.S100k on you car? Well if they are well kept miles then it's barely broken in I've had my friends maxima at 500k and personally my 93 Integra haulinlg *** at 250hp to the crank with 180k miles on it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the real problem with the KA not making over 200HP is because of the intake manifold. It just can’t flow enough n/a. Side drafts with 11.01 compression and great set of cams and you would have a very sweet all motor KA.

Someone needs to come up with a manifold that will hold a set of side drafts for the KA24DE.

O and cam gears would help in this goal of N/A 200Hp

ive got a 00 manifold and wondered what i could do with it as far as only using one half of the manifold. a direct port (n2o) short runnered mani would be kick ***. im open to suggestions, its just so much work to remove and install it on an altima.

cam gears dont do crap unless you put aftermarket cams in the car, IMO....so get both. JWT is making both cams, gears, and an ECU for me shorty, Im persuing to break 170rwhp N/A before I turbo my car :)-chetalready got 160.4 and 160 hp and torque at the tires.
