Recently inherited a 1977 Datsun 620 reg cab. 104,000 miles. Everything was running strong when just today it seemed to become excessively fuel starved. So much so, that I had to pull over and get it towed home. I'm thinking fuel pump. It's the mechanical kind as I'm sure you all know. The truck starts and runs if I hold the accelerator down to the floor, and then just barely runs. And, while I'm doing this, there is a bluish grey smoke spewing from the tailpipe. Maybe oil getting in the fuel line from the cam, into the fuel pump, then into the carb? Possible yeah? Anyway, bypassed the fuel filter and still same problem so it's not that. Anyone know the proper amount of fuel that the pump should be pumping, off hand? I'd like to test that next.
Thanks, any help appreciated.
