Fuel filter on Z24i is AWOL

Hello,
I have a 1986 (built 10/85) 720 4x4 KC with the napz electro-fuel injection.
I am methodically going thru the whole truck bringing everything back to stock, and have had good luck so far with parts, etc, but don’t axe me where the fuel filter is, as it is nowhere the schematics and diagrams show it should be.
Sheesh!
One line from the fuel tank ends abruptly at the firewall passenger side- as if it was going to an in-line filter at one time- and the other goes to the evaporative emission canister.
Sheesh, I must be blind or the fuel filter is in- or next to- the gas tank.
Any help is appreciated,

Well I think the filter is down by the tank, so i am guessing the electro injection motor was a swap. I took the cover off the frame below he filler, and it looks like an in-line filter up above the other thinger.
The VIN says it is a 2.4L L4 SOHC 8V---- nothing about electro injection.
Am i right?
