My mom just got quoted an insane amount of money to get some minor maintence things done on the pathy. I know, since she is a female, they gave her the run-around. i dont think they know she could prolly out mechanic them. anywho, how easy is it to change the fuel filter and transmission fluid. i have a 240sx, and some nissan knowledge ;). thanks

typical charge is .5 hrs for the filter. depends on what service they are performing on the trans. if they are doing a drain and refill about .5 to .8 tenths of an hour. if they are doing a complete flush of the trans 1 hr plus chemicals and fluid.

i know the thing said $10 for dextron, among other stuff. i know it says new seal along with the draining for the trans. i know the filter shouldnt be to hard to change, but its going to be expensive if they do it.

sounds like they are just doing a drain and refill. since they have the drain plug washer (seal)in their list. $10 for trans fluid is cheap they must only be draining the pan (about 3.5 quarts). the trans holds around 10 to 12 altogether. A flush would be better as it will exchange around 95% of the fluid in the trans rather then the 30 to 40% during a drain and refill.

yeah, thats what i thought. if they're just doing that, i can do it here. i think its funny because with tires and filter and transmission fluid change they quoted her a price of $1100. i just sat there with my jaw on the floor when i heard that.

oh yea they can hook you up. Ask the shop how much just for the trans and fuel filter service. bet it will sound more reasonable.
