Not sure if anyone else experienced this but it seems that the gas pump will "kick out" before the tank is filled up on the Versa. I also had it occur yesterday where a bit of gas came out but I was only about 3/4 of the way to filling the tank. I never had this issue before in my 10 years of owning cars. Maybe it's me but this is the 2nd time filling up and both times I've had issues.

I have noticed that it is difficult to top off the tank at the same level in order to check fuel economy. It must have a small opening to the tank or the curves are extreme angles.

I have this issue periodically with every car I have ever owned, but not yet experienced it in my Versa. From what I understand, if the gas station's fuel tanks are running below a certain level, the pressure from the gas vapor inside the underground tank can cause the same mechanism to release as it would in the car as if the tank were full, kicking off the auto-fill mechanism.

All 5 times I've filled the Versa, it has worked beautifully and, to my knowledge, filled completely to full at the same mark.

could be a filler neck problem. I would report it to the dealer.

Just did my first fill-up today. No issues here, right above the 'Full' mark where it should be.

I experienced the same thing today. Filled it up, put in a little after it cut off and then when pulling out of the station, I noticed the fuel hand was below the Full mark by a tick. It was the first topoff and it came up to 35 mpg. I didn't think that was right, so after a 150 trip today, stopped and filled up carefully. Checked the mileage again, 23 mpg!!! Now, I know I didn't get it full the first time!!! At least I hope not!!!

Had it happen to me on the Versa as well. Only did it once at a particular UnoCal. I was filling up and all of a sudden I have gushing fuel all over the side of my car and the ground. I shat kittens!

I have never gone back to the pump but other UnoCals without incident. I chalked it up to the station/pump.

This happens about 1/3 of the time for me. It's makes it hard to track mileage because I have to average at minimum 2 tank together. It's not worth taking to to the dealer for, but I might mention it. I've never had this problem with my last 3 cars. It seems to fill about 1 gallons short when this happens. It just barely reaches the full mark on the gauge when I restart the car. by 10-20 miles I'm already showing 1 mark down... normally this takes 50 miles.

It helps if you always buy a car that fills up from the same side as every car you ever owned, which is why I bought the V.

I use the go slow at the end strategy for filling up. You slow down when you get close to filling up and you can squeeze so much more into the tank. Filling up with litres, as opposed to gallons is pretty easy. Get to 40 litres and let up on the pressure. I've found in the past that mega squeezing makes the gas slosh and bubble, and you've got to wait for the bubbles to subside before you keep going. Some gas stations pumps seem to blast the gas through causing more bubbling.

Did you notice on your dash next to the fuel door icon there's a little pointer? That tells you which side the filler door is on your car. Handy little pointer. My traded in 1989 Benz didn't have that so I'm glad the Versa does.
