When i bought my 97 J30 it had 40,000 miles on it in August 2000. intially the car pulled slightly to to right. The dealer I bought it from tried several times to align it but could not get it right due to the front right being out of camber or caster, whichever one that there is not any adjustment for. So they replaced the whole front right strut assembly with a used strut unit which fixed the problem.

I am going to replace the front strut inserts, mounts & rubber pieces now.

My questions is since I do not know how many miles I have on the front right spring (the front left has 108,000 on it) should I replace the springs as well? Anyone know how many miles the springs are rated for?

You are in FL? No signs of rust on any suspension parts and the car rides OK now, worn struts aside? How much are new springs?

Did you do your timing belt and how are things with the new TPS? Sorry for all of the questions.

I am in Tampa. No signs of rust anywhere. I am the 2nd owner, bought the car in Tampa & the original owner bought it from a stealership in the Miami area & had all service done there. The car rides good now that I replaced the tension rod bushings today, however there is still a slight low pitched rumble from uneven roads (maybe something is loose, but i just had the shop check the front suspension for anything that needs replacement, ie worn suspension components & they said everything looks fine)

New springs are $150 each (I am tempted, its going to be @ $500 plus $150 labor for the strut insert cartridges, strut mounts, upper seats & boots.)

I just did the timing belt today (timing belt, tensioner idler, upper idler, water pump, thermostat, water inlets, camshafts seals, crackshaft seal, all accesory belts, fuel filter, tension rod bushings & spark plugs for $633 in labor at Z Fever in Tampa. I supplied all the parts)

The TPS worked out fine after adjusting the position of the unit after a few trail runs, no more CEL, idles perfect & shifts fine.

For an extra $300 I'm going with brand new.

Thanks for the offer though.

Are t springs/struts stiffer than standard/non-t springs/struts?

Yes for '93 and '94 models.
