I was up taking a shower - I get out of the shower dry up and get dressed. I come down stairs to hear all kinds of mania and crying. I am like "WTF" is going on?

"Pete - so sorry we bumped your car, we will pay for it". So I go out to look at what happened and the resse on the pick up truck bumped into my car. I am of course biting my lip and rage is building. All I hear is "We will pay for it, get it fixed and we will write the check.."

So here are pics of the damage.. argh.. btw I just got this car about a month ago! 2012 m37X

Ouch indeed, but a good opportunity to go for a Sport or Aero bumper if its in your interest to do so.

You sure it wasn't another Infiniti trying to help your car remove that german license plate frame?

You should be able to get that bumper replaced and/or upgraded quick and easy.

Agreed,
Did similar thing to myself and it was the best thing that happened,
New aero front curtesy of Allstate.
Yes they will get it back in premiums, but hey, I would have never done it otherwise.

Got the estimate today... 2K! New grille, foglight, bumper and bumper painted installed. He ran my vin and it came up as a "sport" package.

Anyone have pics of the different front bumpers and is it a simple replace or are new brackets etc needed? Just wondering if it a simple replace and bolt on. For my 2012 m37x

Wow - very nice! Now I am wondering Why did this guy tell me he had to paint it if they already come in OEM colors...
Thanks for this info.

they don't, only Aero comes painted, the sport and base come unpainted. This is partially the reason I went with the aero. Calculating in the deductible, I got aero, with midnight grille for the same price I would have gotten just the standard grille and original sport bumper. The only caveat was I needed to put it on myself. Well worth it though

@mkbb.
was it a pain to put on yourself? And was it a direct bolt on? Meaning no additional brackets or bolts needed? Did you also install the side skirts and spoiler or you purchased the bumper only? If it was the aero bumper only then I would assume that is a totally different p/n.

Here is the kit for my car.(no pics) just a price har har.
http://www.infinitipartssuperstore.com/ ... -1ma1a.htm

From the post above it looked straightforward to install.

Also why did you have to install it yourself?

So I got a price for the whole aero package. for about 2,400. I will have to put it on myself. Should I got with that whole thing or stick with just the front bumper? And i think the skirts go over the old skirts, one of my skirts has a little ding on it which putting the aero onto it should remedy that. I am not 100% sold on that rear wing though.
But dayum that aero looks good ! I would be a fool if I dont upgrade it at this point.

thoughts opinions?

May go with the black grille.

It is a direct bolt on except for one thing. On the Sport package M (which is what I have) there is an air dam (or piece of flexible plastic) that sticks out too far by about 1" or so. It has to be trimmed (or cut with scissors), otherwise the aero cover won't sit right. It looked like it could be bent so I didn't trim it until I had everything connected (fog lights, etc) and the bumper partially on. This was a mistake as it wouldn't bend enough to make all the connections tight. I had to take it off and at the end added myself another 30 min of work, so no big deal.

I would recommend another pair of hands. Especially during aligning/pushing the new bumper cover on. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. I had never done this type of work before

I just installed the front bumper. I believe the side skirts are the same for sport and aero (could be wrong), and the spoiler is just too much $$ for me.

I wanted to save money by doing it myself. The problem I ran into was most body shops I contacted didn't want to just paint the bumper for me without installing. And those that agreed to do it, didn't let me buy my own bumper (which I could have gotten cheaper than they quoted). Since the aero comes painted, that was my only option for a DIY. It's quite more expensive but I always liked the look.
My damage was estimated at $1600 (bumper cover, grill and energy absorber (piece of styrofoam behind the bumper cover). I got $1100 check ($500 deductible policy) from insurance. I bought the aero bumper styrofoam and black grill for $1450 (shipped to my house) and installed it myself. So I saved $150 (real $$) and as a bonus got the Aero front.
I could have never justified this going through the body shop ($1400 aero plus grill plus labor to install) = too much money.

Is there anything on there you folks thing I need? I want this to look perfect..! And yes I do have another set of hands helping me out on this. I have the 2012 m37x with the "base" bumper that "bumped a truck hitch in the drive way..

to replace base bumper with paintjob was about 2K. for an additionall 400 or so out of pocket I can get the complete Aero package. I was not sure if I wanted just the bumper only or just go for broke on all of it.

double check about the skirts, hey don't look any different that what my Sport came with.

Also. go to the infiniti Estore and get a quote. The 25% sale (which is what I used to buy) will give you a better price (I just quoted $1850 for full kit). You can also have it shipped for free to you local dealer.

my price quoted above doesn't include the grill, lamp and license bracket FYI.

Also, the aero bumper comes with new fog light bezels/rings since they attach to the bumper cover and are different shape it comes with a license plate bracket. Not sure why you are getting a quote for these separate.????
I have a new license bracket came with the aero that you can have If you'd like.

Good luck

They were different shape that my sport which are different than the base bumper. The aero and base look like they may be identical.

How much would shipping be to Ohio for that license bracket ? ;)

Also i am just trying to make sure I have ALL the correct items when I get into this so I want to make sure I have all the right stuff as i am going from Base to Aero. And I am still on the fence for the rear wing... Would you go for the rear wing if the money wasnt an issue?

click on check online price, (for lug nuts - doesn't matter), this will take you to a window where you put in a zip code for you local dealer. Once you select the dealer, click on accessories (font page) which should list the aero parts. I couldn't get it to show up doing a part search either.

yes I would.

I would have to check what it weighs, and if I could squeeze it in a padded envelope.
Would have to be tomorrow the earliest.

you could still save $100 on the bumper and $40 on the sills.
It's basically 25% off the first column prices in your quote.

THE AERO STUFF WILL NOT SHOW UNDER PARTS, OR IF YOU DO A SEARCH.

At the top of the page where you see:
HOME PARTS ACCESSORIES MERCHANDISE PROMOTIONS

click on accessories. It should be toward the end/bottom of the page.
