Got pics of the MSD coil but for some reason I can't get the camera to connect with the PC to upload them. I also completely retimed the engine and de-carbonized the cylinder head. When the boss lady returns from holiday I'll use her camera to upload all the pics necessary. :bigthumb:

OK. The diffs bolted on with the new leafs and the drive shaft is machined to fit. Have to change some lines tomorrow and I'm considering putting back in the 5 fwd gearbox. The webber has also been installed but I want to test it without the MSD coil to see how much of a difference it makes. Didn't take pics as I finished in the dark. Pics tomorrow. :dblthumb:

Still have to install the drive shaft. All the shocks and bushings have been changed, the brakes are bled, the test drive comes as soon as I've installed the drive shaft. :yesnod

I'm fully mobile now. She runs like a dream, no noise, no backlash, no problems. The power mirrors are totally functional now, the power locks work but due to the gear of the Izusu diff, she is a little slower than before. That will soon be rectified through a 5 Fwd gearbox, 264 duration cam and a pair of webber side draughts. I still have the T4 turbo charger and intercooler but thats for installation when I get bored with it. :dance

I finally got the measurements for the E brale cables done. I'm going today to get the cables crimped with the new ends and I can go for inspection. :yesnod. Will post some pics later.

Sorry to be away for so long, but things are pretty slow for me right now. I got a new ride - its a 1998 AE111 corolla wagon with a 4A GE 20 valve engine and 5 on the floor. I haven't given up on the truck but its on the back burner for now. I need to locate a cab (preferably a king cab) and install the power steering and I'm back to using it as my daily driver. As soon as I have pics available it will be posted and the car would be also in others.

Was told by a mechanic here that the power steering box from a 1984 Galant super saloon would work and is a direct fit. Well its not. Only two bolts can work, the box is bigger and the spindle shaft is too long. The bottom hose rubs on the steering coupling. As soon as a solution appears I will be posting again.

Ho ho ho. Merry Christmas to all my NICO family. All the best for the new and prosperous new year. Lets keep these projects going. Since I got the Corolla I've been neglecting the truck too long. As soon as I complete the roof of my garage I would be starting to work on Funtasia again. It rains every day now so I can't go up to do much welding but I'm hoping for the best.

Looks awesome! Has come a long way in deed. It's tough this time of year. Many of our projects are covered knee deep in snow. Makes working on them a chore. Spring isn't too far off, everything will begin to move again.

I decided to use the truck to go for the power steering box and ended up having to get a wrecker to tow it back home :tisk: . Would you believe the steering coupling burst on the way to get the box  ? Apparently there is a difference in the coupling for the 80 to 83 and the 85. Bummer. The box would have to wait until next pay now. The new coupling cost US32, the wrecker cost US100 so I'm buying the coupling now and the box month end.

Haven't had the chance for some time to post. here's the latest. I did some work on my brothers mazda 929 coupe and loaned him the truck to get some parts. Well I'm pretty fed up with myself because he came back with the engine knocking and just parked it up as if nothing was wrong. But it isn't that bad, sounds like the chain and tensioner. As soon as work is done I'll let you know. I hven't gone for the power steering box yet either. I've been spending too much time with the Corolla :chuckle: .

Its been too long again between posts, but with working double shifts, renovations to my house and changing the front wall which a woman drove through, I've been busy :frown: . Here's where things stand with me right now  . I changed the tensioner, chain and ladders to get out the noise. Went for a test drive and had no power  . Reset the valve timimg and still no power  . So I changed the distributor and power from the gods :dblthumb: . I swapped the 32/36 webber for a more sedate 26/27 which I haven't installed yet and found a L18S close to where my brother lives  . I paid US$ 78 for it but it has an oil leak to correct before I tinker with it. See you all soon :dblthumb: .

Happy new year. All the best for all my nico family and hope we all have a bright and prosperous 2014. Update:- Still have not purchased the power steering box but I ordered a 3/4 race cam from iskyderian for the L18S. I'm doing a complete overhaul of the L18 as I also found out about someone who has a new set of 45 webber side draughts with a manifold. Was told he wants US$850 for the carbs but haven't talked to him yet. Will keep you informed. :bigthumb:

It's been too long since my last post. Well I'm about to start the overhaul of the L18 engine I got cheap. Nissangirl gave me the info needed to ensure that I did not make a bad buy.

Here's the plan. L18 head and block, steel crank, Sr20 pistons, ported and shaved head, L28 valves, 264 duration cam (isky),L28 head bolts, MSD coil and webber 32/36 carb for now. I'm hoping this will produce about 160 to 180 HP. I have the carb, coil, valves, head bolts and crank in hand and spoke to the performance shop about getting the cam and pistons.

when its all done and fine tuned, I still have the T4 turbo if I don't get the performance I want. I should start the repairs in two weeks with pics of course.

I've been bad to my truck. Since I got the Corolla its taken all my time. I went for a drive with the 720 and almost had to get a tow home. :frown: Now I need an L18 gearbox. I have no reverse or first gear. All I'm getting here in Trinidad west Indies is the 4 speed box. I'm looking for a 5 speed. I will pay any/all shipping charges.

it looks like a long period before I can start to work on the truck again, so I think its time for an upgrade. I'm looking for a king cab in good condition. I will try to arrange shipping from the states to the Caribbean if the cab is worth it.

i am forced to work on the truck again. The Corolla is going to be down for repairs in a couple of weeks. When I tried to fit the windscreen it has a space almost 1/2" between the glass and the cab. Got a professional straightener to fix it. The rest of the cab I will be fiberglassing. Will post soon again.
