I have been wanting a CA, well since I have had my 240. I have finally found someone wanting to get rid of one, 350 obo. Here is a list of what it comes with and whats wrong:

I will be removing this motor out next week and its up for grabs. This motor isn't in top condition. I think this motor have bad compression or something wrong with it, didn't have time/will power to check.

problem: motor will start up but will suddenly stutter, lag, then stalled. Have to rev it up to keep it alive. Its not the maf, I think it needs a head rebuild.

Its a great project motor. Everything comes with the motor

-5 spd tranmission-ca harness-alternator-downpipe-turbo (t25) and so on

is NOT included -Ecu-ignition relay (?)-wastegate-some IC piping-pulley

Is this motor worth it?? What is the average cost of a rebuild? How hard is it to find a extra ECU and pulley? I guess what Iam getting to is how much will it cost to get this thing running?

Save ur self the trouble of a rebuild and buy a complete motor. About $1200.

+1It's a pain to try and souce parts. This wouldn't be bad as a spare parts engine or something.

What would be needed though to get the motor started? Well it starts, but to fix the problem? What are some opinions to what it may be?

The way I was looking at, no matter what even I bought a motor 300 or 1200, I would still want to rebuild it.

BTW, I would just be rebuilding to stock, so nothing extreme. At least right now. Iam thinking its a good deal. Stock HP is currently enough for what I do, autoX and road courses.

biggest mistake i made was dropping in a motor that i knew would need some new parts (oil pump) in the near future. 3 weeks later my oil pressure sucked and i had to swap in a new pump, this has really delayed me driving the car like i want to. i wouldn't put a motor in a car unless your sure that you've done everything you can to let it run for atleast 2 yrs. ecu should be easy to find on ebay with the pulley being a little more difficult.

If I were you, I would still get it, use it for either parts or rebuild it which is the right way I believe this way you know you have a clean engine.

the harness alone is about 200-250usd on ebay.

The rest of the parts aren't so hard to get.

Before you start taking it apart, do a leak down test to see where your problem is if you really have a problem with the head, the leak down test will show.

What kind of setup did the previous owner had, Example.. Z32maf, safcII, etc... the reason I ask, is lots of people start cutting up their harness and rewiring things and next thing you know the engine won't rev, stumble and make all kind of weired problems.

inspect the harness and make sure there are no serious damaged done to it before installing it back in the car.

Good luck,RafiPULSAR GTR

Perfect chance to go stand alone And if you go generic (SDS, Megasquirt, regular Haltech, etc), you can sell the harness for a proft twords your rebuild and you'll be doing a new ignition anyway...

I suppose that if you are ready to do a full rebuild on it, and you're not going to rush it, then this could be a good project.

But be prepared to keep driving the KA for a while, and don't rush to get the new motor in!I have seen too many newbs come on here in a hurry and end up in failure.

As for price, I personally wouldn't give more than $800 for it. If the leak down tests aren't horrible, maybe $900-$1000.

$900 for one? **** you can get a swap for that much.I think $350 is about right since it comes with so many extras.

The ignitor chip is missing. Can the US CA18DE ignitor chip be used?

I think that is a nice price for what you get. Like the others have said, it would make a nice spare motor or a project (over time) motor.

Hey I am actually selling my ca that I just got done building and I will sell it with another spare block if needed.

FS CA18DET

Okay so I am selling my ca that I just built so I can build a KA-T. So here is whats done to the block.

Block was taken to Tommy Goza local guy in Georgia that builds the Nitro Methane Drag Cars and Top Fuel Cars. Yeah he is damn good.

-Block dipped in acid to clean off -Block bored over .2 -Block Honed -Head Cleaned -Custom CP pistons and rings -Shotpeened Rods -Cometic 1.2mm Head Gasket -Oem Nissan Thermostat -Oem Nissan Oil Pump -Oem Nissan Water Pump -Calico Rod bearings and main bearings -Turbo XS manifold -Turbo XS 3" downpipe -New Belts -Crank is micro polished -Rotational assembly is ballanced to 18k rpm's -XTD stage 3 Six puck iron disk clutch -Resurfaced FLywheel -5 Speed transmission -Ecu -Uncutt wireharness already wired into the Ka harness -Powder coated valve cover (Prizmatic black) -Turbo has no shaft play The motor has about 1500 miles on it. It runs really smooth and the clutch grabs really well. It was broken in correctly and has been taken care of very well. The motor has not been pushed to the limits! I am asking $2500 obo. Complete fmic setup can be purchased for $450.00 it has only been driven on once since I just did that setup after having a smic.
