Thank you for this! So helpful. I want to order the parts. I found one 27457-1ME1A (Aroma Unit) in UAE. Before I order can you confirm if I need to order B7DEF-1ME0A (Air Spencer) separately or if it will come with the more expensive Aroma Unit. Note: the B7DEF-1ME0A is listed as flammable and I would probably have to order it from a Infiniti directly or eBay.

Thanks!

If you order the part 27457-1ME1A the aroma stick is included. You will still have to swap out and use the dummy unit on your M, assuming you have a US model.

This is a response from a Fleabayer about my question if the complete unit came with the aroma stick.

"Hello, Joe,
Thank you for the information!
According to original parts catalog data, your vehicle VIN JN1AY1AP4CM530020 is not equipped with aroma unit. There is ambient air quality sensor P/N 27490-1MA0A installed instead.
So we don't confirm compatibility of P/N 27457-1MA1A. By the way, it is supplied with aroma stick.

Best regards,
Maria"

I found another used one on FleaBay that's about half the price at $79 delivered from Lithuania. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-INFINITI- ... 1438.l2649

The one I bought was used from Japan and I can smell the piney/eucalyptus aroma.

Thanks Joe - I read through the entire forum. Excellent info. Will follow your instructions to flip the parts to the dummy unit. (I’m positive my Canadian model is same as US).

You had me at “Piney / eucalyptus aroma” :bigthumb:

Will report back after the attempt installation. Lastly, much respect on crossing out the “give up” option. That’s what I’m talking bout. :mike

Alright got the part. And thanks to your research the 274571MA1A I received appears to be for the LHD market with the mounting tabs in the right place!

Will attempt to install this weekend and report results!

Hey guys,
this is a cool option and I want in on this. I have a 2015 Q70S in Toronto. I don’t have the forest option but I do have the outside air option. I’m going to order the part from Lithuania on eBay. Before I do is anyone experienced replacing the dummy unit on the 2015+ models or can I follow the same steps as for the prior m37? Any help greatly appreciated

Confirmed.

1. Premium Grapeseed Cabin Air Filter Installed: 27277-1ME0C

2. Aroma Cartridge Assembly (LHD) installed: 27457-1MA1A

See pics. I’ve indicated where the power harness is, the side by side comparisons, the dummy unit, and the hard to get at screw behind the rail.

I’m sitting in the car with forest air on and I think i smell a very faint pine / eucalyptus but I still can’t confirm. Might be placebo because I want to smell it so bad. Will update if there’s more to do with report.

Thank you Joe and everyone who contributed. 10 years later and the Y51 still keeps giving...

Is “vehicle config” something we need to do so we can actually get this thing to activate the aroma?

Thanks

I'm sure it has to config in CONSULT device.
Perform "AROMA DIFFUSER SETTING"."WITHOUT" or "WITH".
Just went to dealer in Vannuys and asked them to enable it, fk'n tech tell me to just turn FORREST "on". They didn't enable it.

Hi Joe were you able to make final confirmation that the car picked up the Aroma Unit without any PCM communication / activation or Consult device needed? How many days did it take for you to noticed that it kicked in? I’m fully putting the HVAC on Auto + Forest Air moving forward. All I want is to breathe in that pine / eucalyptus / leaf / fragrant wood unicorn scent! :mike

Thanks!

Funny that you just commented on this thread. Yesterday after running some errands, when I pull into my garage and was about to exit the car, I could smell something new that I didn't recognize initially. I leaned over to the front passenger side and it was a bit stronger. So I got out of the car and went to my workbench were the aroma unit shell that I used from Japan was sitting. I smelled the side of the unit that the aroma stick was attached to, and it was identical to what I just smelled in the car. BTW, the HVAC system was both on Auto and Forest Air.

I hope it wasn't my wishful thinking or imagination but I've always had a very good sense of smell (not always a great benefit). With that being said, do you think it's possible the Aroma Unit is functioning without the PCM being told that it now exist on my car?

UPDATE: you were absolutely correct.

Previously: I’ve been very interested in getting this unit to work as I understand a tonne of research went into this technology of Forest Air including the Aroma cartridge woody leafy scent which is said to “aid mental clarity and focus while driving.” Who doesn’t want that? According to NISSAN, I guess, no one in North America.

I searched online overseas and found the entire LHD aroma unit assembly (27457-1MA1A Stick Aroma Assy) brand new (with B7DEF-1ME0A Aroma Stick included) which replaced the dummy unit and fit like a glove without having to transplant any parts. I also reconnected the hoses to the new unit and found the electrical harness that was tucked away and plugged it in. I also purchased a premium grapeseed polyphenol cabin filter (27277-1ME0C) on eBay and installed that as well. I still couldn’t sense any fresh smell (expected woody leafy scent). After reading as much as I could find, and some forum replies I knew I needed to get into a Nissan consult dashboard to see if there was some sort of HVAC flowchart like (HVAC—>Forest Air—>Aroma—> Enable)to enable this.

Fast forward to present day:

Today I took the car to a friend at NISSAN. He used the Nissan Consult Tool and found in HVAC Settings that the Aroma Cartridge setting was set to “WITHOUT” (as expected for North American models that just have the dummy unit without Aroma cartridge). We set it to “WITH” and then set to “HIGH” versus “NORMAL”

Great Success :gapteeth:

Maybe it’s placebo but I already feel like I can smell the fresh air scent. Let’s see how it goes for a week. Thanks for all the input in the forums and YouTube videos.

Cheers to mental focus and clarity

I have no luck in cheap fake consult 3+, it won't compatible with NA Infiniti M. Bought it from that link, can't return.
ONLY DEALER CONDSULT 3+ can enable this.

Okay, so let me TL;DR this  .

Parts needed:

  • 1x 27457-1MA1A Stick Aroma Assy - ~$200 USD after shipping on eBay
  • 1x B7DEF-1ME0A Aroma Stick (might come with Assy above) - ~$90 USD after shipping on eBay (is there different part numbers for different scents?)
  • 1x 27277-1ME0C Premium Grape Cabin Filter - ~$60 USD from parts.infinitiusa.com (Is there an orange filter? An apple filter? lol)
  • 1x Visit to Nissan to have a technician enable the Aroma Cartridge setting (set to "WITH" instead of "WITHOUT") and level ("Normal" or "High") - probably 1hr labor charge from the dealership
Total = ~$350-$450 depending on if your Assy comes with a stick :rotflmao

Viper, can you share the stores/URLs of where you bought the stuff for the community? Is the prices I found accurate? Sorry if I missed it.

For posterity, I believe it’s grapeseed polyphenol:

https://global.nissannews.com/en/releases/061218-01-e

While it’s a nice-to-have, the fancy filter has nothing to do with the scent production. It’s a better/different filter.

Problem is, you need Consult 3+ to enable this feature.
If you have Consult 3+ on hand, why don't you update ECU and TCM by buy files from OEM $20 ea. Read PN of ECU/TCM from Consult 3+ (not from sticker) and enter PN in here: https://www.infiniti-techinfo.com/ecm07.aspx
And upload to ECU/TCM.
