Ok so I'm pretty computer savvy myself but I'm stumped to all hell right now.

I recently upgraded my computer with the following:-Asus M3A78-EMH HDMI Motherboard (socket am2/am2+)-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 5000+-Nvidia GeForce 9600GT -2GB of Patriot Extreme Ram-500GB Western Digital HDD (7200RPM)My processor pins were a little bit bent and not aligned when I first got it and I took 45min to make sure each was straightened out and working correctly before installing the processor. I do not think this is my problem, I am able to do many things at once and have many applications open at once without any problems so I do not think my cpu is faulty.

The problem I'm having is that when I run a game I get 50-60 fps for a while and then a major lag spike. Even when I turn down the graphics this still happens.

Games tried on:-World in Conflict-Age of conan

Thanks

Maybe something is overheating and getting throttled. Do you have temperature monitors for you cpu and vid card? If you have all the right drivers and not overheating, try googling the problem. Look for specific Age of Conan problems as I know some games can have weird problems. World of warcraft had problems with Nvidia cards for the longest time. What OS are you using?

ok so now I am getting 50-60 fps which is great, however, I get lag spikes down to 9fps every now and then. Even with gfx on both age of conan, and world in conflict down.

I'm going with what yelnatsch517 said, maybe something is overheating.

Old post, but though I'd chime in.

Drivers updated?

Overheating is probably an issue, my friend's computer use to just restart playing CS.

Get a temp monitoring program.

Then update and/or reinstall ALL drivers
