I have a 2010 Rogue and for many months now the key fobs will not work. I have changed the battery in the fob several times and I have disconnected the battery to the car and left it disconnected for about 10 minutes. . Still does not work. I have tried the trick of sticking the key in and out of the ignition, but that does not work well because it is too difficult to put the key in and out so many times within the 10 seconds allotted.

I think this is just a flaw with the Nissan Rogues since I have encountered several others with the same problem. Just last week I was at the gas station and there was a girl standing next to her car at the pump next to me. She looked like she had a problem so I asked her what was wrong. She said he key was inside the car and the doors were locked. I told her about the problem I have with my keys and she said this was the very same problem she was having.

Other than it is time to get rid of the car, anyone have any suggestions? I went to the Nissan dealer and they want $120 to fix it. I probably am not replacing the car with another Nissan.

Seldomseen - The dealer wouldn't tell me what the fix was. They knew I would fix it myself and they knew they would be out $120. But I do think this is a very prevalent problem with Nissan and they refuse to address it. I plan on buying a new car in the next 6 months. Because of this problem, it will not be a Nissan. And that is too bad because I really like the car!

Sorry, but if you actually asked them they would have told you. Additionally, why do you assume it's an easy fix you could have done yourself, thereby losing them a $120 sale? What criteria are you using for the statement "this is a very prevalent problem with Nissan and they refuse to address it"? And for that matter, why do you then assume that you should buy a different brand, presumably because Nissan (in your opinion) is the only company whose FOB's have a "problem"?

All one has to do is google it and many of the same complaints come up. Not just for Rogue, but for Altima just as well. I have a Rogue, my son and daughter in law each have an Altima. My key fob and my daughter in laws does not work. And one need only look in the Nissan forum and you will find this same problem listed by others who own Nissans. I wish I knew what the fix was. I have changed batteries in the fob, disconnected the car battery, tried to insert and remove the key several times, all to no avail. Neither of my fobs work. However, I can use the key to open the doors and drive the car. I also think there was a technical service bulletin issued TSB #NTB12-009, NHTSA ID #10043735, (Summary: NISSAN: DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK INOPERATIVE WITH INTELLIGENT KEY. *KB,) but I don't know for sure that it was for this specific problem.

And by the way, it is not just that the fob won't lock/unlock the door. The car will not start unless I put the key in the ignition and I have to unlock the door manually.

So if you have any ideas that I have not tried, then I am open to hear it. It is more the fact that I will have to pay $120 to get something to work that should be working in the first place if I want to get it fixed.
Thank you,

Mike
